I just sent this email to Al Franken
Dear Al,

I am asking a favor of you today. While you don’t know me, I am one of the many millions who bless the day Air America Radio came to be. It is, as you surely know, a beacon for those of us who truly believe in the meaning of democracy. To hear fact instead of fabrication and truth instead of trickery is a thing of beauty. My utmost respect and gratitude go to you for helping shape such a wonderful thing. May it grow and prosper for years to come.

That said, I must now take issue with you, for you are embarking on a path that leads us not out of the morass, but knee deep forward into the muck. There are times for kindness, of this I agree, but now is not one of them. As Lucy continually picks up the football, it is time for Charlie Brown to finally get wise to the fact that she is never going to let him make the kick. Shower her with kindness and all you’ll get are empty promises and a dirty back, brushing off the grass stains as you pick yourself up. Lucy lives in the White House, disguised as Chucky and stepping on your throat as you gasp for air. Can you guess how to make him stop?

There was fraud in the Presidential election, Al - bucket loads of it. George W. Bush, disguised as God, stole the election from its rightful owner. There are millions of us who know this to be so, and we work daily to uncover it. Many of us work tirelessly in some cases, making the calls and crunching the data to prove our points. We put ourselves at financial risk, and we do so gladly. We work with some of the most brilliant investigative journalists in the business, and we have the support of many on your network. The facts come out on a daily basis, and we look to OUR media, and OUR radio stations to bring it forth. Yet, from you, we get nothing.

Why, Al? Why? Have you done the research, or are you content to let the
“A list” Rolodex folks form your opinions? James Carville? Laughable now – reduced to smashing eggs on his forehead while his wife looks on. Begala? Playing games with Carlson on Crossfire, and cashing the check while he crosses Jon Stewart off the guest list. Russert? Matthews? CNN? The DLC? DNC? Try as I might, I can’t stifle the laughter. If these are the people whose word you are taking, I humbly ask that you look to the Capitol.

You’ll find a bastard living there, Al, one who lies and cheats and steals without regard for the common good of anyone save those who do his bidding. Go back to 2000, – he stole that one, remember? Go back and look at Max Cleland’s race, or Roy Barnes’s race. Both led by huge margins the DAY BEFORE the election – in Cleland’s case, by double digits. Sure enough, with Diebold using Georgia as a test case God turned not water into wine, but Democrats into Republicans. Hallelujah, Mr. Franken – gimme that ol’ time religion.

Take a look at Diebold, Al, or ES&S, or Sequoia. Do the research, and check the interesting “interplay” between their prime movers. Check how unbridled fundamentalism is running amuck, and how in a scene befitting the Keystone Cops Diebold certifies Diebold, and Fraud 2004 gets off to a running start. We’ve got O’Dell from Diebold, we’ve got Blackwell from Ohio, we’ve got precincts bunkered down under the lunatic rational of “homeland security” which amazingly enough pronounce their secret count favored George W. – by 50K!! Shocked, I tell ya – I’m shocked.

You can do the research, Al – I’ve read your books. You’ve got people at the ready, and a network growing by leaps and bounds from which to preach from. Listen to those of us who have poured over the records, and who have the evidence. Give us all the national forum that we need to stop the charlatans. This, my friend, is no time to play go along to get along. To quote a poster from Democratic Underground:

“When you play fair in a rigged game, it doesn’t matter how hard you work, or even what you do. Insanity is repeating the same mistake, expecting a different result.”

The address is www.blackboxvoting.org. The person’s name is Bev Harris, and I’m betting she’d love to talk to you.

I’ve stopped listening to the show, Al, but let me know if you make the call – I’ll tune back in.

Sincerely,

xxxxx
xxxxx

5. Excellent - Al's a good guy with a blind spot: Just say NO to faith-based
vote counts Al.

Any trust in a vote count that isn't independently verified is based on faith.

The kind of faith Enron employees and investors had.

Definitely not the smartest path to choose.

What really pisses me off is that they are using his cynical commentary in the recounts as a promo-------his voice kills me, sounds like an egoistic, deep voiced authority looking down on the plebs (conspiracy nuts).

...I doubt that Al needs a lecture on how bad Bush is.Al was the very first to call him a LIAR .And took a lot of heat for his radio station.....We cannot jump to our own conclusions about the silence.I think that Al deserves the benefit of the doubt....I'll keep listening. In legal terms this waiting period is called "discovery" and it is a time to keep quiet and not "tip your hand" .

But during discovery one might at least say that your looking into things, that you are gathering some strong evidence; you don't have to say what it is. If that is what the entire democratic party establishment, including Al Frankin, is doing...

GREAT LETTER, Bear. I salute you. And I'm with you re not listening to him any more. I'm way too disappointed. We need him, we need EVERYONE on this. I just listened to Begala on Crossfire talking about how the party has to change and Vilsack is pro-Life. :puke: When you ask the wrong questions, you get the wrong damned answers!!!!! If NOTHING else, we have to expose this enough so that our Party doesn't take any further turns to the wrong (read: "right") direction.

Great letter! I hope he reads it. Thinking about sending a letter to Randy Rhodes and Mike Malloy to see if they can push him along. How about letters to everyone on Air America?

Called my Unions International. Thats who we have a charter with in the Union. I'm in Plasterers Local 5. Told them to get ahold of the locals in Ohio to make them aware of the recount that will be coming. I've been spreading the word to everyone along with e-mails on recent updates. Keep spreading the word!!

30. Thank you, Eloriel

You are very right - we need ALL of us. THIS is how it gets done - one voice. Isn't it obvious from looking at the other side? Everyone from Limbaugh on down to the guy on the 100 watt station in the middle of nowhere hit the same points, at the same time, with ONE voice. They give us the playbook and we're too dumb to use it, so we operate instead on the presumption that saying "plese stop kicking me" will somhow offset the fact that we got an ass full of bruises.

Maybe that's why in the primaries we supported candidates out of the mainstream (different ones, but for the right reasons).

We were, I am sure now, entirely correct.

33. I must disagree about Barnes and Cleland
"Go back and look at Max Cleland’s race, or Roy Barnes’s race. Both led by huge margins the DAY BEFORE the election – in Cleland’s case, by double digits. Sure enough, with Diebold using Georgia as a test case God turned not water into wine, but Democrats into Republicans. Hallelujah, Mr. Franken – gimme that ol’ time religion."

We in Georgia knew it would be a tight race. The polls were not wildly in favor of either of our Democratic candidates - in fact - On 10 October, Barnes was leading by only 7 percent with about 9 percent still undecided. If you want to call that margin HUGE, then be my guest, but I'd say (and still say) that it was too close to call even the day before the election. The flag issue for Barnes and the consistent pounding by the Republican party on Max's votes in the Senate helped paint him as a far left-wing liberal (something he is not). Should we have won both of those races? You bet - but I don't subscribe to the "they stole it" theory. We just got our butts whooped. And it still hasn't stopped in Georgia. It's time for our party to wake up and smell the coffee. We either move to the center or we will die on the vine. Period. Just my two cents here.

37. I don't know about the numbers in those races
So I won't quibble with you or the orginal poster. But what I will argue is your statement that we should either move to the center or die on the vine. I couldn't agree with you less. I'm fucking sick of a Democratic Party that talks big but then becomes essentially GOP-lite as it gets closer to the elections. What we need is for the party to stand it's ground. Say "YES WE'RE LIBERAL! You got a problem with that?"

If one of the biggest problems a lot of people had with Kerry is that he was a "flip-flopper" (as absurd as that label is considering the bait-and-switch technique BushCo uses on a daily basis), then I say we have to say what we are, stop fucking apologizing for it, and start explaining why being a liberal is a good thing.

I'm tired of bending over backwards to appeal to the center. "Reaching out" has only gotten our hands bitten. We've got to start showing that we have backbone and that we know what we're doing. Start leading and people will eventually start following.

Just my two cents.

40. I don't have a problem at all with letting people know
"But what I will argue is your statement that we should either move to the center or die on the vine. I couldn't agree with you less. that we are liberal. That is what separates us from conservatives; especially on social issues. The problem (as I see it) is a steady movement to the left over the last ten years or so. Our party is now at the point where the leadership is steering us over a cliff. I think Tom Daschle was a prime example of this. He refused to move to the middle of the issues and it more than likely cost him re-election. Maybe my politics are more toward the center than yours, or maybe I just see the political landscape for what it is. Either way, I still say that unless we (as a party) move more toward the middle and align ourselves more closely with the views of the majority of this country - we are going to suffer many more defeats in the future.

34. The one I sent to Al today
Al,
Your lack of coverage of the gross inconsistencies and MASS of obvious circumstantial evidence showing election fraud on November 2, is more than disturbing. Be that as it may, the story of the century now "has legs" and the mainstream media's (and your own) silencing and/or debunking the issue can no longer stand. Just today the following news items confound the opinion that this story is irrelevant. Please note that the Ohio Dems, the org that you yourself endorsed/plugged so much before election day is now in the fight for the Ohio recount!

- Berkeley Prof/students issue paper showing Bush gets 130,000 EXCESS votes, pointing to mass election fraud in Florida: http://ucdata.berkeley.edu/new_web/VOTE2004/election04_WP.pdf

- Ohio Dems join the fight: http://www.cleveland.com/news/plaindealer/index.ssf?/base/news/110077402787260.xml

- Dennis Kuchinich endorses recount, saying, "I strongly support the request for a recount in Ohio"
http://www.augustafreepress.com/stories/storyReader$28754

This issue may not contain enough comic material for an on-air skit, but don't you think, Al, that its about time you got on-board, along with Malloy and Randi, Bev Harris, Dennis Kuchinich, John Conyers, U.C. Berkeley, Prof. Steven Freeman, The Ohio Democratic Party and the Internet Tom Paine's out there in fighting for American Democracy? We need you right now, Al. American Democracy is at stake and we have a chance not only to save it, but to put Kerry in office, reform the election process from top to bottom, and discredit the Republicans in one fell swoop. Because if the Ohio recount and fair provisional ballot recount, combined with the Florida election scandal are brought to light, it is indeed what could very well occur.
