3. at least they'll have to count it
anything under 2000 they have to count. the more recounts where optical scanners were used, the better, imo

7. Less than 150=hand recount
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 09:54 PM by raysr
over 150 machine. But Gregoire has the right to ask for hand recount in specific counties.

9. I hope she asks for a hand recount in King County - it doesn't look right
to me. And while they're at it - throw in the Prez as well.

10. I've been trying to follow the numbers everyone has been posting
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 10:33 PM by Northwestmom4Kerry
I just posted some figures, but I deleted them and am going to repost because I realized a did something wrong and need to refigure something.

I am convinced they didn't care about this state going to Bush THIS time; but they were going to make darned sure it went to Rossi. I know this in my gut, ever since I found out he has a dog named dubya!

11. Did you notice they saved Benton County for last?
They saved a rural repuke county for last to make sure they beat the 150 votes which would have called for automatic hand counts.

Investigate Benton County!

12. Tell me if this looks strange......
Edited on Wed Nov-17-04 10:45 PM by Northwestmom4Kerry
Okay, in Washington State, there were a total of 2,859,084 votes cast for president, and 2,805, 913 votes cast for Governor. That is a difference of 53,171 more votes cast for president than Governor.

In the President's race, the Libertarian candidate received 11,955 votes, but in the Governor's race, the Libertarian candidate received 63,346 votes!

If you take the 63,346 votes cast for the Libertarian Gov candidate and subtract 53,171 votes, that's a difference of 10,175, which is much closer to the 11,995 figure received by the Libertarian president.

I'm not sure how the numbers in the last paragraph are significant...I'm just looking for some sort of pattern.

My big question here is it unusual for the Libertarian Governor candidate, who is a complete unknown, to receive so many more votes than the Presidential candidate, Badnarik?

If they were going to steal something in Washington State, it was going to be the Governor's race.

13. Bennett is gay
And she ran on a gay rights platform. She aparently now says that she ran to draw votes away from Gregoire.

16. Hand recount in King County.
I'm in Seattle. They BETTER do a hand recount here. We have optiscan in my precinct, which is heavily Democratic, but I still don't trust those machines one bit!

18. There can still be another recount
State sets guidelines to conduct recount

<snip>

Washington law requires a recount in a statewide election if the final margin is within 2,000 votes.

In a machine recount, which is automatic for the 2004 governor's race, the counties simply retabulate all the ballots that were counted in the original count.

The process checks for tabulation errors. No new ballots are included.

<snip>

State law authorizes only one mandatory recount, but a candidate or political party could request another recount after the election is certified.

The party or candidate must make a deposit with the state in the amount of 15 cents per vote for a machine recount and 25 cents per vote for a manual recount.

If the final number of voters is 2.8 million, the deposit would be $420,000 for a machine recount, or $700,000 for a manual recount.

My guess is not mater who is declared the winner next Wednesday the other candidate will pay for another recount.
