About what time should the results be coming in tomorrow? |
|
This is the first Presidential election that I have followed obsessively like this, it looks like tomorrow all I will do is vote, volunteer and be checking DU. Also, are there any reliable polls released of early voters?
thanks

But I think NPR is great for political coverage.
Otherwise, your local news/talker should do. Might even have local races.

2. After the polls close in those time zones, so around 8pm to 9pm EST |
|
you'll start to get a feel from exit polls. If democracy is to have a good name throughout the world, the election will be called that night around 10pm EST. If we are to look like complete and utter idiots, they'll delay it and embarrass our country further. Hopefully, we get a nice big lead over 1% and we don't have recounts and Bush starts packing!

The polls aren't closed on the west coast at 10pm EST. They won't close until 8pm our time. I don't think we look like complete and utter idiots if we don't call the election before a large block of us get to vote.

IN, KY, GA, SC, and VA will all go safely in the Bush column and VT is a gimmie for Kerry. The real fun begins at 7:30 when Ohio closes and at 8:00, when PA, FL, NJ, and MO close their polls.

|
Here's a schedule I found with all the closing times: http://www.uselectionatlas.org/INFORMATION/ARTICLES/ElectionNight2004/pe2004elecnighttime.phpNote that the first polls to close are those in the Eastern time zone of Indiana and Kentucky, at 6:00 EST. But the Central time zone polls in those states close at 7 EST, so it'll be then before we hear any results.

Can anyone recommend reliable news websites (tv and print) that will be posting updates? I don't live in the US, so I'll be forced to watch Norwegian coverage, which will probably be less biased than most US news, but still.

some is central. This just goes to prove, that polls that close at 6 and 7 are truly rigged to benefit the ruling wealthy party, why wouldn't there be early voting every where like here in Florida. It's been hectic but it's working, over 2 million votes so far, and I'm banking on the fact that 1.1 million or more are for Kerry!
1 week of voting from 7am to 7pm will get everyone a chance, not this one day crap.
I VOTED & IT FEELS GREAT!!!!!

21. FLIP FLOPPING BUSH COULD MEAN A DRAFT |
|
Here's something to think about. Although Bush's got the better tongue and has avoided being called to the carpet on it, Bush's a big flip flopper on military issues, which likely means a draft if he gets reelected and says on his current belligerent course. Seems like the harder Bush asserts something, whether it's about bin Laden or WMD in Iraq, the more likely it is not to come true.
Bush Flip Flop 1. After 9/11 Bush said he wanted bin Laden dead or alive. Then he said he wasn't "that concerned" about bin Laden in March 2002, as recorded by a White House Transcript. Apparently because he wasn't concerned about bin Laden, Bush marched into Iraq before finishing the job of catching bin Laden. Recently, Bush said he never said he wasn't that concerned bin Laden and that he wants bin Laden dead or alive. Bush flip flopped and took his eye off the ball of catching bin Laden, and now even Bush admits it's not a matter of if we will suffer another terrorist attack, but when.
Big Bush Flip Flop 2. Bush promised Congress he would exhaust all available means before going to war with Iraq. Then Bush flip flopped and rushed us into war with Iraq because he said he knew Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Ooopps. Wrong country. No WMD in Iraq. That would be North Korea and Iran. Did Bush ever take responsibility for his flip flop mess that resulted in over 1000 US soldiers lost to date? Of course not. Instead he fired someone else, the head of the CIA. Time to hold the man who admits no mistake accountable for once. Fire Bush.
Big Bush Flip Flop 3 (to come): Hello draft. Just because Bush denies that doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Just like Bush said he wasn't that concerned about bin Laden or Sadam has WMD. Right. What do you believe? The tongue of someone with a history of telling lies like Bush or the reality of our forces being stretched to the bone. If Bush were in the National Guard today he would not be able to run away and waste all the taxpayer's dollars so he could play fighter pilot. He would actually have to serve. As will many others in a draft if Bush gets elected and then flip flops like he has on key military issues before. Will you bet your life or those of your loved ones on Bush or on reality? Are you Red enough to risk your life? Vote responsibly. Vote Kerry.

33. documents prove the pentagon discussed a draft in feb 2003 |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 04:40 AM by Is It Fascism Yet
and the draft plans they discussed included drafting women, men and women up to and including the age of 34. the plan also includes ways to "target certain groups"
MILITARY – DO YOU FEEL A DRAFT?: This week in the Desert News of Salt Lake City, Donald Rumsfeld wrote "in the time I have served as secretary of defense, the idea of reinstating the draft has never been debated, endorsed, discussed, theorized, pondered or even whispered by anyone in the Bush administration." But the Seattle Post-Intelligencer has obtained documents which indicate the Bush administration "has studied how to expand draft registration to include women, target some civilian work specialties for special attention by the draft and extend the required draft registration age from 25 years old to 34 years." The plans "were discussed at the Pentagon on Feb. 11, 2003, by the chief of the Selective Service System, the federal agency that would operate a draft." The Selective Service System recommended "formation of a government-wide task force 'to examine the feasibility of this proposal' and design efforts 'to market the concept' to congressional lawmakers."

if you don't believe in God, you don't need to insult my good hearted reference with a negative smarmy swipe, I expect and get those from the evangelicals who mock Christian democrats, and please understand the difference between God bless us, and God bless the U.S., it's not that challenging. Surely God blessed the U.S., you're allowed to make cheap shot comments without someone killing you for your arrogance, I call that a blessing, move to Uganda or Pakistan and see how they would react to your behavior.
needless to say, I'm concerned your vote will be tossed due to a misunderstanding of the directions.

unfortunately, I think EVERY single station will try and jump the gun even MORE than before to be the first one to call any states based on the AP reports. It is so frustrating, isn't it? I told my friends in 2000, WHY are they reporting on state victories when voting is still going on in Hawaii & Alaska? I think it'd be fine by me to announce the winner of the election at a lunch time press conference the next day. Everyone could use the rest instead of waiting up for the results til 1am!
I know I'll be exhausted, been to 6 Kerry rallies (1 was Edwards only, rest Kerry/Edwards or Kerry) taking others to see him. Then getting up in a few hours to drive voters or wave signs.
God bless us
