Rough justice *skip* Asked about the court's ruling on the Florida vote count in the 2000 presidential election, Scalia snapped, "Get over it. It was four years ago." http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/253916p-217352c.html

Does that mean you're "over the Constitution?" That was like 200+ years ago.

....for studying decisions of the past, the evolution of Constitutional thought, as well as relevant precedents for specific cases.
Live for today. Think for today.
Now will you all just forget Roe vs. Wade!? I have.

..."get over it." Not "I honestly think it was the right decision for the following reasons..." but just "get over it."
What intellect and integrity. I'm ashamed to say I graduated the same high school as this douche bag.

He is an embarassment to lawyers everywhere. Yet it's the attorneys who try to help injured people who are demonized by the Right.

4. I wonder if he realizes how much credibility the court lost then? |
|
I know some of the justices realize it. Of course Scalia wouldn't admit it publicly, but late at night, when he's alone, I wonder if he thinks about what would have happened if the court had just not taken the case at all?
All these folks care very much about their own legacy, and they were all damaged by that decision.

He seems to me to be so full of himself that I don't think he cares what anyone thinks. He helped his friends and that is all that matters.
What a pompous asshole.

21. Along with most of the rest of the Federal Government |
|
A lot of the public believe much of anything that comes out of there is probably corrupt in one way or the other. A few hardcore political hacks believe that good can still be made there. Then others might even believe it is a reflection of our society in general.
Getting the duck hunting out of the way. I don't really care if they worry about their effing persona and have accepted that most of the justice that is ladled out in the legal system has nothing to do with justice in real terms.
Acceptance that there is something wrong is only the start, you must do something about it otherwise you will always be on the wrong end of the equation to going some place else

why SC justices shouldn't be appointed for life. I'm coming to the feeling that FDR was right when they should have a mandatory retirement age--maybe 65.

15. I had a dream about scalia on the night before election night |
|
and the whole Supreme Court, the night before election night.
they were doing some kind of live broadcast on tv, all the Justices were in this room filled with chairs, answering questions from callers over the phone - but you could also watch this all live. i called the number to ask them a question - asked them in the ened, who was gonna win this election? they all answered, 'Kerry'. all but one, Scalia. I looked around form him, and saw him, with his head down, pretending to not have heard my question. i got this huge sense of anger, and revenge, and just stared at him through the tv screen, so hard that he kind of looked up, as if he felt me staring at him....
i hope it was a sign.
SCALIA, IF KERRY WINS THIS THINGS, GUESS WHAT?
GET OVER IT!

17. Apprently they agree ,something to get over ? |
|
Yes they know they stole another one and again want us to just get over it ! Well I will never get over it, and even more of a thorn in my side is that this time evem most Democrats are not even aware of the thing we need to get over ! I still hold out hope that a true patriot will come with evidence in hand ,and show all exactly what they did and how they did it. B/4 this last election I recall in a post writing how if just one of the so called journalist in this country was to do the hard leg work of fully investigating , the how and who stole Florida in 2000 , they would certainly become the new American Hero , so far we are going on stolen Presidential election #2 and all we have are American idiots ,as far as those higher ups in the media. Nothing except a bunch of bush lap dogs. Its truely disgusting what has happen to our country since President Clinton left office !

Me thinks it time to educate on the matter of Scalia v. U.S. Constitution.
The man is embarrassing and despicable. His legal rationalizations are tortured to the fascist extreme. Fascism is not permitted in a democracy.

26. we're over it, tony. but we're also over you and the entire |
|
supreme court.
once upon a time, you were a member of a prestigious group. your actions in the 2000 election diminshed the supreme court in the entire nation's eyes.
used to, a supreme court justice was considered a distinguished jurist. now they're looked at as partisan hacks.
feel good about that, ton'? your buddies love you. you did the deed for them. but your place in history has been cemented as a corrupt, bought-and-paid-for, smalltown, dirty judge.
you like that, fat tony? all those years you worked hard to be the best at your profession. all that respect you tried to command. all that history and tradition. you and eight others comprising an entire branch of our government.
but you ended that faster than a fat girl gets thrown out in dodge ball. you're a frigging joke. don't worry; you'll be secure. but so is your place in american legal history.

i have meet scalia and although i essentially disagree with every decision he has ever made i do respect him because he has a clear and concise interpretation of his job as a justice and sticks to it. Our constitution demands this of our justices, i feel i would be a hypocrite to just want dismiss him because he disagrees with what i feel is right or wrong. Now justice Thomas scares the shit out of me cause that guy is just a raving lunatic who would spearhead the reinstitution of slavery (he is black) just along party lines. Scalia, I feel if presented with evidence would flip on bush and chenney in a second, he might become the most liberal justice we have at this rate, lets pray that isn't the case...
