Anybody have a list of bluest counties?
I am temporarily living in Cook County, IL. I'm guessing we were in the top 5 for sure, but I'd like to know exactly.

I know someone on this board knows! At least one person on here knows the answer to everything!

Where abouts?

I'm live in Cook County as well. South Cook.

3. In Illinois it's easy.

Your (Cook) county is THE "true blue" part of the state.

Kerry won IL by about 500,000 votes, but won your county alone by over 800,000 votes. That was 70% of the vote. Chicago by itself went a little over 80% for Kerry.

The other blue counties in Ohio are:

Fulton, 53%
Knox, 54%
Henderson, 55%
St. Clair, 55%
Jackson, 56%

None came close... and none were even a significant fraction of the size.

On edit. If you meant nationally... no, you're not in the top five. But you're still darned impressive!

5. Here's a good link
http://www.ftponline.com/weblogger/forum.aspx?ID=1&DATE=11/09/2004 Has a map of counties and a list of which cities weighed the heaviest for Kerry- "with 75 percent of the vote in New York and 90 percent of the vote in Washington, D.C. The list goes with St. Louis, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Boston, San Francisco, Detroit, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle."

6. I did mean nationally
if we're not in the top 5 nationally, I'd be surprised. Obviously, San Fransisco, Los Angeles and New York will be up there.

Anyone have those stats?

8. Sure, I have some of that.

Your original post spoke of "counties".

San Mateo, Snata Cruz, Alameda, and Marin counties are all in that 70%+ range and that's the Bay area alone.

Wayne county MI was right around there. As did Essex County, NJ... Multnomah County, OR, and Denver, Boulder, San Miguel AND Pitkin, CO.

Even counties in TX met the standard (Zavala, Duval, Starr)

Philadelphia came in over 80% (as, of course, did DC, Manhattan, and the Bronx).

13. Thanks!
I guess percentage wise, we're not up there...

But from the looks of it below, we gave Kerry the biggest numerical margin of victory in the nation!!

10. That warms the heart
My tennis partner last night was almost in tears, and was incredibly angry about the election. The only thing that made her feel at all better was when I reminder her that WE did OUR part in Phila/the 'burbs, getting out the vote in PA.

12. You gotta love the well-oiled Dem machine
that operates in Philly. It's one of the reasons I miss it so much (it's my hometown, too). :hi:

At least there's Atlanta down here to satisfy us blue-minded folks.

11. Look here
http://www.uselectionatlas.org/USPRESIDENT/stats.php?year=2004&f=0
scroll down a ways

According to this site, counties with highest percent of vote for Kerry
District of Columbia, DC 89.32%
Shannon, SD 84.61%
San Francisco, CA 83.38%
Macon, AL 82.93%
Menominee, WI 82.57%

In terms of the actual number of votes, the margin of victory was highest for Kerry in Cook County and Los Angeles County.
