To destroy the original, signed records? Shouldn't the FBI have been called when those shredder-bound documents were discovered?

One other question: if these tapes came from the Optiscan machines in the various precincts, how would it be possible for the county to generate new tapes at all? What is the mechanism for doing that? And shouldn't that mechanism be assessed to see under what conditions, if any, it is legal to do?

It seems to me very similar to having an "ATM receipt printer" that you can use to generate receipts saying anything you want them to. There would be no valid, legal reason to have or use such a capability! Only the ATM receipts that come directly from the ATM machine have any legal validity. All else is by definition a counterfeit!

Or am I missing something here?
