Lycoming County PA Election Results
I've been staring at these figures for days now:
LYCOMING COUNTY

Registered Voters
Democrats Republicans Libertarian Green Other Totals
24,098 36,581 232 151 6,721 67,783

State Unofficial Pres. Returns
15,509 32,497 268 90 52 48,416
County Unofficial Pres. Returns
15,784 33,476 275 90 52 49,677

State Results # didn't vote
8,589 4,084 -36 61 6,669 19,367
County Results # didn't vote
8,314 3,105 -43 61 6,669 18,106

We use lever machines for voting here. What I find it hard to believe is that so many Dems didn't vote in this election. Over 2x the number of republicans that didn't vote. We registered so many new people this year and I haven't ran across a Democrat that didn't vote or who voted for GWB. These numbers just don't look right but I got them off the "official" state and county websites.

From what I've read, I can go to the county election office and request to look at the books, correct?

3. Take drastic steps
You need to get the list and post names of people who did/didn't vote in the election. This needs to be made public. If that happened, it would probably get people to protest when they found that their ballots weren't counted.

4. Nothing to do with voting
but my ancestors -- McCarty -- Frye/Frey come from Lycoming Penn.

Yes go check -- look at the polling books.

As Bev Harris says -- we have to be the detectives.

5. Thanks guys
I will do that. Used to work at the Lycoming County Court House as a programmer/analyst from 1988 until 1995. Did many a programs for the Voter Regsistration office. 2 of the ladies still work there. Saw lots of them this year as I dropped off new voter registration forms. :)

8. Thanks for the link.
I have no doubts.

I've downloaded Bev's book, had it printed duplex and bound at staples. Been reading it since the election. Quite an interesting read. :)

10. According to this Kerry didn't even net all of Nader's voters
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 12:19 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
14,663 + 965 = 15,628, yet Kerry only got 15,509???

I am going over Pa. counties to find out where Bush got his half million new votes there.

11. Here's full Pa. results for 2000 and 2004 by county
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 07:17 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
Bush Cheney generally turned out a higher percentage of increased support from 2000 except for the notable exceptions by Kerry in the boldfaced percentages in the right hand columns.
The bottom line is Philadelphia, Allegheny, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Deleware, Montgomery, Lancaster, and Lehigh counties saved our butts! The increased Kerry support in those counties totaled 275,644 alone, and helped stave off Bushco's gain of 474,00 new voters.
In the end Kerry beat Bush by 129,927 votes.
