Sen. Santorum Calls For Privatization Of Next Election
WASHINGTON, DC—Citing the "extreme inefficiency" of this month's U.S. presidential election, key Republicans called for future elections to be conducted by the private sector.

<snip>

"There's too much talk about the accuracy and fairness of our national elections, and not enough about their proficiency and profitability," Santorum added. "Who bears the brunt of bureaucratic waste? Taxpayers."

<more>

God bless The Onion for giving a little light and humor in the midsts of the darkness...

3. Too close to the truth.
Like the article they put together describing bush's plans to reduce the Bills of Rights to a more manageable six.

We can actually see it happening and it's scary.

12. Aren't Our Elections *Already* Privatized??? Corporations Like...
...Diebold, Sequoia, and Election Systems & Software not only get millions of taxpayer dollars to provide lousy machines, but those damned things are also "counting" our votes!

That's what's gotten us into this sham of an election process as it is, and now Santorum wants us to pay, in addition to our taxes, out-of-pocket costs to vote???

People, wake up! Our Elections are already privatized! The only difference now is, that instead of paying to vote out of our dispensable income, it's being paid by the millions through our Federal and State taxes!

6. These RETARDS miss the point ENTIRELY!
Go BACK to a PAPER ballot system. Please spare the rest of the world another debacle like 2000 and 2002 and 2004!!! This is just PATHETIC!

The (supposed) leader of the free world (if such exists) cannot even conduct an election fairly.

PATHETIC.

10. Santorum.
When it comes to that fuitcake, two years can't come soon enough.

That suggestion makes me sputter. I can't wrap my head around it.

But hey, it's the same guy who basically told flood victims they were on their own and wax eloquent over sexual deviancy with nary a blush.

no shame, I tell you.

19. Yes no help for flood victims but his kids can sup at the public trough...
"cyber schooling" for the Sanitarium kids, living in their million-dollar Virginia house, but tuition charged to the tune of $38,000/year to a poor school district in Western PA where Rick claims his "residency" but never spent a night... finally had to give it up this week when he got "caught".

But nooooooo, no help for Hurricane Ivan flood victims from His Holiness, St. Ricky....
Everything you own is washed away? So what, stand on your own two feet, you do-less scum! Don't you DARE expect any public handout, you freeloading trash!

15. Sense of humor
We can't lose our sense of humor. We must always keep it and be able to laugh at the foils and follies which confront us. When we lose our sense of humor, we look like hard bitten extremists and in so doing, fail to have our message heard.

It may not be fair, but it is today's reality: Image is everything.

For myself, learning to keep my sense of humor has been a hard earned lesson, but having learned it has proved to be a great benefit in my message being listened too.

16. Exactly , if you let those who wish to be your enemy define who you are...
they have already won. I like the no holes barred approach (PG rating of course). The enemy to all hostility is understanding

leave it to the onion, to point out how nuts this already is
with corporations controlling the country
...oops, counting votes.

neo's would agree and think it's a good idea.
that's the eerie part.

then a money grabbing, power hungry b*tch like her, then maybe it would get off the back of our soldiers.
