WHO IS GUARDING THE New Hampshire Ballots?
They are not going to start the ballot audit until WEDNESDAY? Then a four day holiday weekend. F**K! This is delay. Recounts should take place promptly after the election otherwise the DELAY creates questions. Dagnamit.

3. Are they playing for time? Just like Florida 2000?
Run out the clock and the ballots become moot?

2. Early results
I believe the cause of the delay was several other recounts that have been taking place. Still, I don't know why they can't resume until Wednesday.

Unfortunately, Kerry only gained 6 votes yesterday, compared to 3 for Bush.

5. Delay
They won't resume until (possibly) Wednesday because of the other recounts that are already scheduled between now and then (it seems that they won't be counting on Saturday or Sunday):

Thursday, November 18, 2004 – 9:00 a.m.
State Senate – District 18 (will finish Wed. Nov. 24) Room 305
Nader (to be continued on an undetermined date)

Friday, November 19, 2004 – 9:00 a.m.
State Representative
Hillsborough Dist. 20 (Nashua Ward 1) (no change in winners)
Hillsborough Dist. 2 (Bennington, Deering, Francestown, Greenfield) Recount resulted in change of winners: Winners are: Adams IV, r and Chase, d

Monday, November 22, 2004
State Senate District 8 Room 301 (1 team) 2:00 p.m.
State Senate District 12 Room 305 (6 teams) 9:00 a.m.

Tuesday, November 23, 2004 – 9:00 a.m.
State Representative
Strafford Dist. 3 (Barrington, Farmington, Middleton, Milton, New Durham, Strafford) Room 301 (10 teams)

Wednesday, November 24, 2004 – 9:00 a.m.
State Senate District 18 (6 teams Room 305)

***Notice that in the District 2 race for two state representatives, Republican Dario Carrara lost his 31-vote lead (for second place) over Democrat Claudia Chase, who ended up beating him by four votes. The towns covered by this recount are not included in the 11 wards in the initial Presidential recount.

8. I'd also like to know who is guarding the ballots...
The importance of securing the ballots, tapes, and other physical records cannot possibly be overstated. There seems to be an assumption that, when a recount is done, what is being recounted is the genuine article. But I'm not at all sure that this is a safe or correct assumption to make.

Does anyone out there know how these things are being protected? FullCountNotRecount is absolutely right in protesting these delays as they increase the possibility of tampering.
