When you cast your vote electronically and it's totalled electronically - where is YOUR ORIGINAL VOTE?

Is there a physical object (or an individual persisent piece of data, or a unique, separate database record) representing THE VOTE OF VOTER {XYZ} CAST FOR CANDIDATE {ABC} AT {12:12 PM} IN PRECINCT {PQR}?

Or is there just a total number for the precinct on a memory card somewhere?

Would it be legal to essentially erase a person's original vote by just blending it into a total?

Just an idle question from a database programmer.
