Columbus Dispatch article on "overregistration" (Oct 24)

This was posted in another thread, I want to emphasize it:

http://www.dispatch.com/election/election-local.php?story=dispatch/2004/10/24/20041024-A1-00.html

Ohio’s voter-registration rolls are dirty, containing more than 122,000 apparent duplicates as well as the names of people who moved out of state in the 1990s, a local murder victim and even a pair of accused terrorists.

/snip/

And the list includes a Columbus man’s adult children who moved out of state in 1997 and 1993 — despite the father’s attempt to get them removed. "That’s really disturbing," said Ohio State University law professor Terri Enns. "There certainly are potential problems, but there are a lot of (Election Day) safeguards to keep it from swaying the election."

/snip/

The inactives are a key reason the number of registered voters in at least seven Ohio counties — including Franklin, Cuyahoga and Licking — exceeds the estimated votingage population. Franklin County tops the list, with at least 30,000 more registered voters than residents who are at least 18 years old.

/snip/

Damschroder and Carlo Lo-Paro, spokesman for Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell, said there are procedures in place to assure people don’t vote under the names of inactive voters Nov. 2.

SURE...we know you are a fan of fair elections, Mr. Blackwell...

1. so with that in mind...
what do the actual number of people who voted say about the percentage of people who really voted compared to the extras.
Am I making any sense?
If we know for a fact that 30,000 of these people shouldn't be there, and we take them away, what is the actual voter turnout?

2. Dead People Vote in Florida

This is another thought too, in the state of Florida the repucks have dead people voting for them. Just another one of the little ways they like to cheat.

6. That still doesn't explain the number of actual voters
versus the number of votes candidates received that is out of whack.

7. I wonder...
..if the Republicans' so-called "mailing to registered voters to create challenge lists" was not really a mailing to find placeholders for faked votes? Did they ever end up challenging that many people or was it a distraction from their real purpose?
