186 uncounted Absentee Ballots in Johnson County , Iowa found while
preparing election materials for storage according to KCRG channel 9 news in eastern Iowa. I didn't see the story on their web site yet.

Johnson County is very Democratic. It is where the University of Iowa is located.

It is just another screw up. We really need to make elections more then just an afterthought with little funding or importance placed on them.

They will have to change their already certified numbers to include these ballots.

Nothing new here, just the usual.

1. How can ballots be mislaid like that except by design.

Those are important items. They are what the election is all about and everyone knows they are supposed to be not only counted, but accounted for. NO EXCUSE FOR IT.

Do you have a link?

6. It is by design, people don't just accidently misplace ballots.

7. This is terrible just terrible

You have enough of these type of events and you have an election either lost or won different, this is so so sad.

8. I'm sorry. I just noticed that was from 2002 so I deleted it but it just
shows how the screw ups do happen all the time. I hand delivered my absentee ballot to the county auditors office just to be sure.

10. Where is the link to the 2002 story???
I know enough about Tom Slockett (Johnson County Auditor) to say he is probably one of the most orgnaized and preofessional Auditors in Iowa.

The only story I remember from 2002 is how 44 ballots could not be counted because of a screw up by an Iowa Democratic Party staffer:
