PUNISH OHIO: Constitution Amend 14 allows Ohio delegation to be cut
Edited on Tue Nov-23-04 10:36 AM by Flint-oid
The State of Ohio denied people the right to vote by deliberately providing too few voting machines in minority precincts.
Based on this, Ohio should be punished, and loose a couple Congressial seats. Take that "Katherine" Blackwell

Amendment 14, Section 2
But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the executive and judicial officers of a state, or the members of the legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such state, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime, the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such state.

1. male citizens?
Why only male citizens? Not to change the topic and I am not disagreeing... but that whole "specifically male" part bothers me

3. Because
When the 14th Amendment was written, women did not have the right to vote.

5. The issue isn't age or sex, but punishment.
for depriving citizens of their liberty

- 21 years old was changed to 18
- women were given the right to vote

Ohio needs to be punished.

6. I get it...
I guess I just thought by now, we would have updated such language...

I could see repugs using that as leverage... not saying they would be right in doing so because this is as you said, about deprived liberty...

I don't want to see Ohio punished though because I live in Ohio... we have a lot of people in this state and I still want us to get proper representative in regards to our population... cutting our representation could only hurt the citizens of the state, and we are all ready the victims!

True justice would be seeing Blackwell and Damshroeder punished... along with a recount and a turnover from red to blue for the state...
