Peter Jennings just reported:
"Bush urges Ukrainian leader not to certify election results!"

...because of irregularities reported in the election.

What's good for elections in the Ukraine sounds good here too...let's call on * to not certify results in our 2004 election!

I'll bet our esteemed cable news channels are ALL OVER Ukraine's "voting irregularities", and I'll bet they aren't dismissing angry Ukranians as conspiracy theorists.

25. Bush people just don't understand why he
I talk to Bush people on line that just cannot wrap their feeble little minds around how and why so many people despise George Bush. I'm serious many of them just are dumbfounded as to why we hate him and simply chalk it up to an obvious character flaw.

31. They also don't understand
why it's a big deal to some that they figure their votes weren't counted, either.
They don't understand that to vote is democracy and if the votes don't count or aren't counted or in some way fooled with (Dem, Rep or otherwise), then it's no longer a democracy. It's fascism.

2. Unbelievable! Will the hypocrisy ever end???
I can't believe he could do that, it will be reported in mainstream media, he'll appear to be such a proponent of democracy. Meanwhile back at the ranch they muzzle us and our election irregularities based on the same damn thing!!!

18. I can't fucking stand it anymore
the Irony, the godamned irony of it all. I want o go to the Ukraine and join the half a million protesters and get it out of my system. It's the holidays, people are too busy buying their fucking turkeys and hams. The godamned traffic is maddening. the news is maddening. This administration is maddening. This morning on the DR show on NPR, a FDA spokeman says there it total integrity in the system and it shouldn't be changed. No conflict of interest with Merck. Whistleblowers are always liars with their own agendas that's what they say, and then? A commerical for Merck on NPR. Every whistleblower on the government gets black listed and scorned. John Zogby on Countdown sees nothing really alarming in the election results, he just "got it wrong" Nothing is gonna change. My intuition is always right and I hate that. When Rather used those documents I knew it was the end of him. When the swift boat people came out against Kerry, I had the sinking feeling of doom. This country is totally fucked. In 2000, we had our chance, we were asleep at the wheel. No one really cared, everything was fine, what could go wrong. How about. . . Everything?! I don't want to believe it but we are past the point of no return. Everything is out of control and the Ukraine deal just confirms this for me. I know three journalists here inside the beltway, and when they worry, I worry. One confided to me that they're joining a pacifistic religious orgainzation because they believe the draft is near. These are not fringe journalists, they are mainstream for reputable publications. Our sons are 16 and in the same school. I know I'm new and I know I'm being pessimistic, but I fear the worst. Everyone thought that Y2k would be enormous and devasting, only we weren't looking in the right place for it. Bush is the Y2K, he stole that election and here we are in a fascist state. I can't believe I'm living in these times. Folks have said to me, oh it was the same during the Nixon era. No. Not the same. Bush is diabolical, Nixon was just really really bad. We didn't have the amount of corruption or the lack of checks and balances, there was at least the media. It's like that movie the perfect storm, the past election was sort of the eye when there was some measure of hope, Now we face the brunt of what is to come.

I'm sorry for being this way, folks. We all need to make a plan for the worst. That's my thinking. Get visa's, save every penny and prepare to up and go.
Unless we have the reaction that the people of Ukraine had this past two days, it's over and I just don't see it getting to that. The window of oppurtunity is closed. :-( I hate this, I just can't believe this all happening.

30. Let's go.
I'm a huge Chomsky fan and the thing about Chomsky is his optimism, Chomsky always stated that through the vote, we could change things. He said this on a video of his I watched two nights ago, it was filmed in 2002.

Chomsky didn't see Diebold coming.

32. Yes, citizens of Ukraine take to the streets in freezing weather

Is this perhaps a demonstration of what "government by the people" looks like -- a lesson for those of us in the country where the concept was born?

16. I agree...
It seems to me that if Bush is so concerned about democracy in other countries, he should have no objection to anyone in this country ensuring that our election results are correct.

Somehow, I don't think that is how it will happen here...and you know what? The hypocrites will get away with it!!

I cannot believe the hatred I have for Dubya and his administration...

17. Are they trying to mix up the public perception?
People will start to hear the vote fraud stories about the US. If they can mix people up so that when they hear "vote fraud", "irregularites", etc, they think Ukraine, they might be able to bury the story.

Also, they will think that Bush is fair, and if he isn't calling for a fair appraisal here in the US, then that means the election was fair.

29. Wag the Dog
Use smoke and mirrors to stage a "war" in another part of the globe, to keep the attention of the People focused on something other than what they don't want them to see.

A little sleight of hand–watch my hand up here–Presto, change-o and voila!–look at the elephant I just pulled out of my ass! And look! I have your wallet, too.

24. My email to Senator Lugar
Thank you for your service to our nation.

I was pleased to read that you were skeptical of the Ukrainian election results. According to the New York Times, "official results diverged sharply from a range of surveys of voters at polling places that gave the opposition as much as an 11-point lead".

Interestingly, there are a few million Americans that are perplexed by a similar discrepancy between the exit polls and final results here in the good ole' USA. Can I gather from your interest in election legitimacy that you will be take the lead in getting to the bottom of the "irregularities" here at home?

Thanks again,

XXXXXXXXXX
