Rush Limbaugh show 11/23/04 |
|
While in my car today, I turned on the radio and Rush Limbaugh was speaking about the election so I wanted to report back to you guys.
Here is the "spin" he put on everything. (Does this guy never spin? He never, ever does a thorough job of discussing an issue and is so full of himself and his propaganda.)
1) He was complaining that NY Times took a poll only so they could do a story on election fraud complaints.
2) Said people were just whining because they lost, but never mentioned a thing about the actual complaints or the possibilities of fraud that could happen with those machines.
3) He said that soon we'll be hearing from people who voted for Bush that will be complaining that Bush was doing things that he didn't tell them before the election -- Limbaugh said don't listen to it.
That's pretty much what I remembered from what I heard.

Today at the pharmacy I got antoher one. Dad was explaining to her daugher why he could not afford to send her to school and that he could not believe them Pell Grants....were cut so deeply
I chuckled
He turns and says "what's so funny?"
"You voted for bush, didn't you?"
Yes, so?
Sweetie you voted for it, you also voted for the upcoming draft, war with Iran, possibly N. Korea and even Russia, SS privatization and I could go on. Not my fault you were not paying attention.
You could see the anger in his face, and daugher said, "well I voted for Kerry."
I am sorry for you kid, but what can I say, I have no empathy for your dad...

For the kool aid to wear off
Notice I did not notice the coming depresion or the very close to free fall dollar. I did enough damage and kid was angry with dad... so what is a tad of family anger and fights?
They have been pushing for this and god I hate these fanatics... I will tell them exactly what I think... and they don't like it most of the time... but maybe the shock therapy will work

Bush is breaking campaign promises left and right (most recently the approval over the weekend to SLASH college student federal financial aid), that's going to piss A LOT of people off. At least it should.

this is what they do to get out in front of a story.
"3) He said that soon we'll be hearing from people who voted for Bush that will be complaining that Bush was doing things that he didn't tell them before the election -- Limbaugh said don't listen to it."
Of course Bush is going to be doing things that people didn't vote for. He lied in 2000, he lied this time. He is trying to innoculate Bush from the coming dazed, confused and unhappy Bush robot voters.

Hi all,
Here it goes:
1) He was complaining that NY Times took a poll only so they could do a story on election fraud complaints. (ad hominem: aimed at the person making the claims rather than the claims)
2) Said people were just whining because they lost, but never mentioned a thing about the actual complaints or the possibilities of fraud that could happen with those machines. (again, ad hominem: "whining" is aimed at the person making the claims rather than the claims when he mentions)
3) He said that soon we'll be hearing from people who voted for Bush that will be complaining that Bush was doing things that he didn't tell them before the election -- Limbaugh said don't listen to it. (poisoning the well: he discredits the argument before it even leaves the person. This is another form of ad hominem)
I keep saying this, but we need to keep the debate on our turf. Call the rhetoric for what it is and do not engage in it yourself. We all have things we could say about Rush, but all that would do is move the debate onto their turf. On their truth the truth has a hard time shining through the murky waters of rhetorical discouse.
He feeds off of having the other side tune in by the way. Don't get baited. If you do listen to the show, chalk it up to entertainment value for the republican base. Listening to all the rhetoric may make them feel good, but it doesn't reeally feed them like we can if we stay clear of the rhetoric game. Rush might actually do us a favor in the long run when people by and large see the pattern in his discourse.
Just some thoughts. :)
Warmly,
George
