Colin Powell cites numerous reports of voter fraud |
|
In Ukraine! I think this is a great set-up line for us. If we have an uproar here in US, we can throw those words back in his face. If voter fraud concerns you there, Mr. Powell, then it should concern you here, too! Link: (this is a long ol' URL. I hope it's "clickable". If not, this is a lead story in NYT) http://www.nytimes.com/2004/11/24/international/middleeast/24cnd-poli.html?hp&ex=1101358800&en=9ff3c4409d9e4760&ei=5094&partner=homepage

Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 04:15 PM by GetTheRightVote
Hey, buddy, yeh over here, what about our country, the US of A, how about us having a fair election where we get to choose our on president as well. You dare to speak internationally without cleanign up your own house, so sad, just terrible.
P.S. I am really upset at the NY paper for printing this news and for not going into our own election diaster. Boy am I mad.

4. Is Powell throwing us a bone??? |
|
Does anyone else think Powell might be doing this in part to help democracy here at home? He knows this administration far better than any of us and can't be thrilled with the prospects of four more years (esp. after cleaning out all the non-extremists). But he's always been a loyal soldier and wouldn't want to baldly call out his boss. He may be using his bully pulpit to preach at "them," hoping people will call it hypocrisy and turn his words around on the administration. No one can fault Powell for condemning Ukraine. What's Bush going to do? Rein in his SoS for insisting on democracy? That would be an admission of guilt.
Maybe I'm giving Powell too much credit. But I wouldn't be shocked.

5. The same thought crossed my mind... |
|
And you see the media is ALL OVER this story... which they are allowed to be... and they keep harping about the exit polls not matching the vote. Suppose they are hoping America puts 2 and 2 together? Please write letters to the editor pointing out the SAME THING happened here.

8. Powell should not be trusted, yet. |
|
He's still on the Bush team, he does not speak without their approval. If he had integrity he would would have quit at least by the time they invaded Iraq. IMO.

6. Here's the exact quote that is |
|
getting me all worked up:
<snip>
"We cannot accept this result as legitimate because it does not meet international standards," Mr. Powell said, "and because there has not been an investigation of the numerous and credible reports of fraud and abuse."
The United States, he added, was "deeply disturbed" by these reports
<snip>
No, kidding? Will you be saying that here, sir?

Not ussss, precious.... is not usssss with all the problemsssss.... isssssss THEM.....
go back to sssssleeeeeeep.
Seriously? I hope you're right about Powell's wanting to get some press spotlight closer to us, but I'm starting to give up on any overturn. I have to say, though, that this has opened my eyes to what's really happening into America. I can't let them have my future children. I'm making my plans to move to Europe, saving money, and starting to put stock in the Euro to deny these bastards my hard-earned (and soon to be nearly-meaningless) dollar.
