all over the country. We do have the state forums at our disposal. If we did little ones all over the place, the overall turnout would be better.

6. Oh please........
Quit watching those media whores who keep repeating the same GOP mantra. Kerry proved he was intelligent, knew the issues and foreign policy and was VERY Presidential. Half of the American people would rather have a GOD DAMN DUMBASS GOOBER representing us and embarrassing us to death. It's not Kerry's fault just like it wasn't Gore's fault. The media whores and the repukes destroys every damn candidate we have! I HATE THOSE BASTARDS! :argh:

3. I was thinking the same way.......
We need to do something. Stealing an election is unacceptable, and stealing it AGAIN is asking for a severe backlash. Where are all the millions of people who wanted this asswipe OUT? Are we going to accept it as not having a good enough candidate? BULLSHIT!!! Kerry "lost" to a phucking IDIOT just like Gore did. I am sick of this shit too.THEY STOLE THE ELECTION AGAIN!!! I'm willing to join in on major demonstrations, but how many can we get to join us? :hi:

5. I will join in on a march, It is well over due, when, where, meet location

----- never again will I trust this government not to throw my vote away, never again will I trust these elected puppets to protect my vote, never again will I not march on lost rights, such as my vote.

I am going to march all over downtown Wash, D.C. this weekend and go on and on about the stolen election, even if I am alone it will make me feel so much better about everything .... I can't wait to see the looks on people's faces when I walk by with my sign. I am strong, I am an American, I have rights no matter what they say, I will be free, even if it is just me, I will march.

at the prospect of taking off of work. They're a bit more passionate, too - which is why they're taking a stand. Priorities doncha know.

There is a thread here about a protest we all wanted to hold. I did a bit of research, as best as I could, about whether or not we needed permits to demonstrate in NYC. The answer was NO, we didn't need any if we were to gather on a public sidewalk with signs, without using amplifying devices (ie: bullhorns). Interest dropped once people realized we all had to work together, brainstorm a tad and come together as a unit.

14. Georgia most DEFINATELY should go for it
to show the world everyone in the south isn't a die-hard supporter of the current admin. Really, you all would make the biggest waves, in relation to protests, if you think about it.

Perhaps you guys could organize something and alert the foreign press.
And remember - it's ok if you don't hold a zillion person march.
Don't minimize the importance of your protest just because it might not be super duper gigantic. Any sign of life matters.

I saw some flyers along the 110 freeway yesterday afternoon about protesting Bush. Unfortunately I couldn't get a good enough look at them to make out the details. I'll check it out when I go by there again in a couple days and post any relevant info. I know ANSWER is planning on protesting on January 20th (maybe that's what the flyers were for), but that's too late for our purposes. Please post if you see/hear about anything or if you are thinking of organizing one. What's happening in the Ukraine needs to happen here. And soon.

22. why not at sport events?
What I mean is, well football games. Everytime I see them on tv and they show the fans they all have signs. Just think it's turkey day and the fox/faux cameras are panning the crowd and BAM! A "Cowboy Fans for KERRY!! ELECTION WAS RIGGED!!!" sign. Or in the silverdome we see fans with "KERRY WON ELECTION FRAUD!! ...um go lions!"

Besides there are lots more games over the weekend, both college and pro. Plus there is basketball.

I mean if you are already going to a game, make a sign and take it to the game.

Just a thought ...

37. Protesting?
Edited on Thu Nov-25-04 11:34 AM by Clark2008
Are you nuts?!
We're all supposed to be good Americans and do what our leaders suggested we do after 9/11 and go shopping! It's Thanksgiving weekend! All the stores are selling things they marked up 100 percent today to mark down 50 percent tomorrow!

Seriously - this is part of the reason we're not protesting. Americans are too programmed to consume, consume, consume without thinking about the consequences.
That and an inane lame-stream media that foists said consumerism and violence and National Enquiresqe stories on the public instead of issue-based reporting is why we're not protesting (Hot key = "Keith Olbermann is the notable exception to this mass media rule").
Too fat and happy with the turkey and the spoils of the war at Wal-mart.

42. LOL... if we supplied a TV showing all the football games
we might get a large enough crowd!!

:D

My parents were "fairly hippy" for being Southerners. My dad remembers the sit-ins staged at a Whites Only restaurant he worked at near the University of Tennessee campus in the 60s when he was in college. One of the black leaders who staged the protest was none other than Marion Berry, before he got all coked up, of course.
Dad got in trouble for serving them because he simply couldn't understand why he couldn't.
Mom remembers the sit-ins and war protests on campus. She lived in the neighboring Fort Sanders area and often joined in (she worked at the hospital down the street as a nurse-trainee - wasn't a student at the college, per se).
My parents are divorced now and Dad's a neo-neo-con (sigh), but Mom wouldn't vote for a Republican if you paid her to.
My step-dad, who had NEVER voted in his life, registered this year and voted for Kerry. And, guess what? He's a NASCAR-watching country bumpkin, but he's got me for a step-daughter and Mom for a wife. He knows the score. :) Change CAN be done!

40. And boycott Fox News and other right wing media
If we can organize a boycott of Fox News and their advertisers products, perhaps we can legally force them to present unbiased news or at least label their propaganda as such. If you haven't watched the documentary about Fox called Outfoxed, I highly recommend it. They demonstrate the incredible bias of Fox and unfortunately it's impact and reach. They cite a study by PIPA that proves that people who watch Fox are sorely misinformed about many facts. (see below) A democracy cannot work properly when its citizens are misinformed. We need to make sure that our citizenry knows fact from fiction, truth from propaganda or we will never have a real democracy. I think we need to get to work on ensuring that news outlets present news and not propaganda so the next elections we have are reflective of the peoples' well informed choices and not based on choices that were made based on lies. It's not enough to present opposing viewpoints on other media because the victims of Fox and Sinclair and Clear Channel are not listening to Air America. We need to excercise our legal right to organize an effort to pressure the right wing media to remove the bias from anything they label as news or fair and balanced. If we get them in the pocketbook, they will be forced to alter their programming and the people of America can make reall choices again. A democracy is only as good as the information it's citizens use to make their election decisions. Bad information leads to bad leadership.

A quote from the study--"For each of the three misperceptions, the study found enormous differences between the viewers of Fox, who held the most misperceptions, and NPR/PBS, who held the fewest by far. Eighty percent of Fox viewers were found to hold at least one misperception, compared to 23 percent of NPR/PBS consumers. All the other media fell in between.

CBS ranked right behind Fox with a 71 percent score, while CNN and NBC tied as the best-performing commercial broadcast audience at 55 percent. Forty-seven percent of print media readers held at least one misperception.

As to the number of misconceptions held by their audiences, Fox far outscored all of its rivals. A whopping 45 percent of its viewers believed all three misperceptions, while the other commercial networks scored between 12 percent and 16 percent. Only nine percent of readers believed all three, while only four percent of the NPR/PBS audience did.."

45. I Got It: Stage Anti-US Media Protest *Outside The BBC Office In NYC*
this is what needs to be done. American media outlets aren't going to televise an anti-media demonstration targeting US censorship.

We need to gather outside a BBC media outlet in Manhattan, expressing our disgust with American news outlets.

We can hold signs saying: US MEDIA LIES and chant: US PRESS IS HARDLY FREE! WE PREFER THE BBC!

Just pick a date, people. No permit is needed. We make our own signs,
post the date & meeting spot on the activism section and GO FOR IT.
