I apologize for Indiana
I want to be one of the first to apologize for my state of Indiana for once again surrendering its electoral votes to Bush/Cheney.

Indiana has voted republican for President every year since Lyndon Johnson.

Indiana is surrounded by blue states except for Kentucky to the south but always goes GOP.

Indiana has lost huge under the GOP. Steel Mills are gone, factories are shutting down and farms are closing yet time and time again votes GOP for President.

Union member the few who are left for the most part vote GOP.

Its all GUNS, GOD and GAYS..

To my fellow Hoosiers who have common since I thank you for voting in your best interests not for hate.

2. Well, but you're delivering popular votes...
... and that matters a great deal this year.

There's no such thing as a wasted vote -- we need to give JK a clear and compelling MANDATE!

:)

4. Stop this MANDATE talk! I heard it on AAR too. What mandate did W have?
We need to win. Anything else is the cherry on top. Why do we need to errect goals that do not really exist?

11. Well, you don't really expect JK to get the same kid-gloves treatment...
... as Bush, do you? A clear mandate can only help JK as president, so what's the harm in striving for that? Besides, for those of us in non-battleground states, pumping up the popular vote is a big motivator.

19. Clinton trashed Bush 1 AND Bob Dole ...

Yet Rush Limbaugh chastised Clinton for being "illegitamite". The argument was he received a PLURALITY instead of a majority of the vote. That combined with low voter turnout made Bill Clinton illegitamite in the eyes of conservatives.

Yet, GW Bush didn't even recieve a PLURALITY of votes and the barest of electoral margins. And Rethuglicans knew damn well that they stole the last election. Yet Bush governed as if he had a mandate.

Simply put, it really doesn't matter what the vote count is. Kerry could take all 50 states and they'll make him out to be illegitamite!!!

The key to success in the future is the proliferation of Air America. The conservatives constructed their empire through (mis)communication!!! The people are on OUR side!!!! We need to set the record straight and Air America is the way to do it!!!!

22. Viscloskey's seat is cement ...

Gerry mandering has two sides. In order to make undefeatable Republican districts, you must make undefeatable Democrats. Viscloskey and Julia Carson (downtown Indy) are those Democrats!!!

Kernan looks as if he's behind right now. If he does lose, I hope he runs for the "Michiana" seat next election!!! We'll may have to stomach Dubaya's Bitch Mitch for 4 years. ewwwww!!!!

18. Brainwashed ...

My state is brainwashed. They are too into thoughtless theocracy and not enough into thoughtful analysis of facts. Our media doesn't help. And as others have pointed out, the Indianapolis Star is one of the most conservative papers in the nation!!!

Indianpolis radio is dominated by ALL the right wing wackos!!! There is no alternative media beyond Nuvo Newsweekly!!!!

Give us Air America in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Terra Haute and South Bend, I'll promise you Indiana in the NEXT election. GIVE US OPRAH FOR SENATE, WE'LL RETIRE DICK LUGAR!!!!!!

10. I've always wondered about this - why IS Indiana so conservative?
Edited on Tue Nov-02-04 06:21 PM by hatrack
I'm writing from a red state with plenty of Thumpers, gun nuts and general whack-jobs (MO), but we can't come close to Indiana's kind of craziness, even with Branson & the Precious Moments Chapel.

So, what gives?

13. From a former Hoosier...
I grew up in the great state of Indiana and I have to say, the Republican stronghold baffles me especially considering the LOVE Hoosiers have of our great Dem senator Evan Bayh.

Sadly, I left the Hoosier state and moved to Alabama - I just can't seem to escape Republicans. So figure it could be worse - at least you don't have Roy Moore!!!!!

But the Republican slant of the Indianapolis Star is out of control - maybe this helps explain things???? It's sad - Indiana is otherwise a super place. I hope to move back someday.

ALSO, I'm hearing rumors that Jefferson County, Alabama (where Birmingham is located) may vote Kerry. Not that this will mean anything electoral vote wise, but it's just another example of all of the love out there for John Kerry!!!

17. Indiana needs Air America !!!!

Put down Air America in Terra Haute, South Bend, Bloomington and Indianapolis, I will guarantee we go Democrat next time!!!!

The interesting thing will be where the Governors race goes. Bush's Little Bitch Mitch (Daniels) is running even though he's never held elected office. The incumbent has been a state legislator, mayor of South Bend, Lieutenant Governor and succeeding governor to Frank O'Bannon.

My neighbors are SO incredibly brainwashed in my state!!!!
