He only touched on a handful of cases around the US where votes are still being counted or contested - Louisiana, Washington state, a couple others and they interviewed the Cunningham dude from a county in Ohio who spouted more garbage about why he feels a re-count is a waste. It was not worth the energy it took me to go to the TV when I heard the name of the segment.

Mentioned that Kerry is gearing up for a recount in ohio and then brokaw just followed with a laugh and a smirk. If I watch any news it's Tom Brokaw for 2 reasons; his interview of George Bush one or two days before the election rocked, it was the first person I'd seen even attempt to stand up to the *&%% GW was saying. Secondly, when he was on Jon Stewart's show he said JS was right about what he said on Crossfire.

I think it was the 'monday morning quarterback' thing that stood out for me. (I had the feeling if he could, he would have smacked him). I just read the interview again and surprise surprise GB lied all the way through it. How can you get the truth out to so many millions who don't want to do the research on their own?)

Is anyone else wondering whether the retirements of Rather and Brokaw are due - maybe, just maybe - have an attack of conscience? I mention this because I have been really critical of Rather since a friend of mine traveled to Iraq right before the war started. My friend was there with peace groups who were trying to get news back to the US and to be a US citizen presence on the ground to prevent a US attack. My friend left before 'shock and awe' started, but before he left he stood right next to Tom Brokaw during a press conference at which Hans Blix (United Nations) excoriated Bush - explaining in great detail why each of his 'reasons' for invading was bullshit. Brokaw was there and when he returned to the states he anchored the news just like always...

Nonetheless, however bad you/I think these guys are - the younger reporters/anchors are worse. At least Rather and Brokaw started their careers when journalists believed that their job was to represent the people. :shrug:
