There are WMD in Iraq.

We need to raise the terror alert code.

Saddam was an imminent threat.

The Iraqi's will greet us as liberators.

We took all the necessary precautions prior to 9/11.

There is no such thing as global warming.

Supply-side economics work.

Energy Conservation is soooo Jimmy Carter.

The tax cuts went to the middle class.

Mission accomplished.

Massachusetts liberals are out of touch.

Truman was really a Republican.

So was JFK.

Exit polls are always wrong.

Paper voting audit trails are not necessary.

We need machines to make sure we get an accurate vote count.

7. The argument I heard wasn't questioning the
accuracy of exit polls per se, but merely saying it isn't very useful to look at exit poll numbers only taken when the polls are still open for a number of hours. The analogy one article gave was to only looking at a baseball score in the fourth inning. Yes, that number might be pointing to the winner, but historically so many games have been decided in the fifth through ninth innings that it'd be foolhardy, particularly if the score was close, to try to project the winner from the midgame score.

8. Your analogy is weak. This is not a sporting event.

Exit polls have always been accurate to within 1% -unless a Bush is running.

The deviations are not mathematically possible, even when compared to early 4pm polls.

16 out of 51 states deviating beyond the MOE?
All to Bush?
None to Kerry?
Kool-aid, anyone?

Women oversampled?
Uh-huh. I guess they don't work during the day.

Dems more anxious to talk to exit pollsters?
Sure. Repukes are shy.

Republicans vote later?
Right. Too busy on the golf course.

9. I agree and I would add Exit polls should be used early
Duh. What's the point of an exit poll that is only used after the voting is done. Our exit polls have never been this wrong. They have never been wrong at all until GWBush began participating in elections. The exit polls are right. The result is wrong.

11. NYTimes: oops, let's take another look at those Texas exit poll #s
http://www.nytimes.com/aponline/national/AP-ELN-Texas-Glance-CORRECTIVE.html

Correction: Texas Exit Poll Glance
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Published: November 29, 2004

Filed at 5:48 p.m. ET

In the Nov. 3 BC-ELN--Texas Glance and BC-TX Exit-Poll Excerpts, The Associated Press overstated President Bush's support among Texas Hispanics. Under a post-election adjustment by exit poll providers Edison Media Research and Mitofsky International, 49 percent of Hispanics in the state voted for Bush, not a majority. The revised result does not differ to a statistically significant degree from Bush's 43 percent support among Texas Hispanics in a 2000 exit poll.
The revised BC-TX-Exit-Poll Excerpts showed that 20 percent, not 23 percent, of all Texas voters were Hispanic. They voted 50 percent for Kerry and 49 percent for Bush, not 41-59 Kerry-Bush."

Time for someone to subpoena that Mitofsky dude and get all the numbers.

"Halt, Audit & Prove My Vote Counts, Now" -- who'd ever thought that Nader, Cobb, Badnarik, and Rev Jackson would be at the front of the line....

15. You just reminded me
how I got that propaganda letter from the government telling me all about my tax refund check that was on its way. To make a long story short - it never arrived and they just wound up applying it to my tax liability the next year.

Somehow I suspect I'm not the only one who didn't want a tax refund when it meant that the government would run on (so to speak) credit cards.

The check is in the mail!
