I vote in a traditionally Republican country club area. Typically the polls are really sparse. Today there were lines all the way down the street. One guy said he hadn't voted in 20 years but he felt it was to important (to overthrow Bush) and thus he was voting.
I know Georgia is a Red state, but some of us tried to do our part!!!

1. We waited two hours this morning in Gwinnett |

The operation of the place was really smooth ... but the line was huge. Not sure how people were voting, of course, but I saw only one person with a Bush Cheney sticker on her shirt .... and she wasn't looking happy.
Georgia's vote may contain a few surprises yet.

6. I waited a long time, too. |

First thing this morning, there were at least 200 people in line ahead of me, probably more like 300. I didn't get done until almost two hours after the polls opened.
From what I'm hearing, turnout is heavy all across the metro area.

As a native Georgian and current Mississippi resident, I know just what you mean...but it's ALWAYS worth the effort.

I live in Athens and know that we will definitely go Democratic, but it sounds like we may not be the only county to do so

5. Heard the same thing from a friend in Atlanta.... |
|
She wrote that the lines were extraordinary, and people loud and clear about ousting Bush. Of course, she said the hinterlands are Bush country.

I'm in the Hinterlands - literally - Alpharetta, Georgia and it was heavy. No signs and no one was talking to each other. May be a sign no one wanted anyone to knows they were going to vote Democratic!!!! We can hope

9. My completely unscientific poll... |
|
...of me and the two people I was next to in line showed a Kerry margin of 100%.
Meaningless, maybe, but I have a good feeling. Sure would be nice if Georgia could go blue, but I'll settle for a Kerry win overall.
