Please don't feed the trolls!
We are in the process of being freeped! Please ignore these threads-they are being provocative in order to utilize the "bubble up" feature of this forum. If we ignore them, they'll go away.

Generally speaking, you can tell it's a freeper because they have less than a hundred posts, and their less that 100 posts all say something like "give up, it's hopeless, get over it". The reason this is happening now is that they know we are on the verge of proving all of our assertions.

They're running scared, so they surreptitiously attack us. Don't feed in, ok? If we don't respond, they'll go away to friendlier climes.

I know that THEY have no hope of getting any action with me. The thought of kissing a Repug is about as bad as thinking about kissing one of really nasty tobacco-chewing old men at the nursing home where I used to work - gak!

Although I will admit that since I've read Chuck Herrin (Republican who says he would be more surprised to find out the vote *was not* hacked than to find out it was) -- I have been wondering if he is single...

30. I'm not too worried about low postcounts, (we all had to start with one),
but I agree with your point about the profile. One thread a couple weeks ago (and I can't remember enough about it to even search for it)
was started by a poster who started out with "My name is.....whatever it was"...it eventually got about 400 replies. You may recall it. I find no fault with people who wish to keep their identities private, that is their own business...as for me, I -want- mine to be very public. AAMOF,
my email is krs@valornet.com I put it in all the messages I send to the Chimp thru www.congress.org on a regular basis. If the bastards wanna come after me, so be it. I would never compare myself to Patrick Henry, but I damn sure echo his sentiments.

WTF is a "freeper"? I know it's pejorative but is "freeper" analagous to "troll" in the context of bbs's and newsgroups?

i'm an american, and i had never heard the term freeper till i came to this board. from what i was told, it stems from 'free republic', referring to the people who post on there. in other words, ultra right wing, pro-bush trolls.

ha, i actually got lightly accused of being a freeper when i asked what a freeper was. lol

How else do you become a non newbie if you're not allowed to make main posts. Sometimes someone will have a question and its not in a post. Are we supposed to hijack the post? I mean as was stated earlier, freepers always expose themselves. I just don't want to become a victim of friendly fire if I post something because I have a question and someone thinks I'm a freeper. I agree with not feeding the trolls. They make the house icky.:bounce:

35. I agree
I think the starting a new thread count should be 100 not 10, during these trying times. Let's face it, fewwwwwww trolls make it to 100 hehehe.

Sure, we have had great posts from newbies, actually several, but those can always have threads started by 1000+ Du'rs on their behalf, as we've seen countless times.

37. I agree
that these are trying times, but, to take it out on legitimate newbies because some people are too immature to carry on a real conversation, I don't agree with that. And speaking as a newbie, petitioning other posters to post on my behalf, to me thats like begging for money. I don't mean to make anyone mad, but I felt I had legitimate questions about this. My girlfriend says that I'm stubborn when I'm trying to make a point, but what does she know.LOL

At least one freeper posted his letter to Ashcroft, and others said they had done the same thing. I can find the damn link if you want, but I'm not sure that's a good idea. Thoughts?

Clarification: the Friggin' Freeper sent the letter to Ridge, not Ashcroft, and didn't mention the PA...but his intent was right there. By the way, the thread is two weeks old, and all of *'s cronies have known about DU for some time. I can't wait for them to try to shut this place down...what a backlash that would be!

Folks, let me know if you want the link. The Freeper site is tough to stomach, but it might be good for folks to know what they are up to. Yes, their threads link to DU.

as I just said on another thread here ("When Bushco finally shuts DU down - what then?"), it is usually wise to know what the other side is saying, thinking, planning. They are linking to DU.

The thread is from Nov 11, and starts with a letter to Ridge. Please refrain from reading on a full stomach...

54. Welcome to DU!
Welcome aboard!

Just know that people look at your "credentials" here when you post. Your credentials are assessed by critical examination of how long you have been here compared to the content of your accumulated posts.

People who wonder what you're about can check out all of your posts from your profile. Agitators and disrupters are generally easily identified in this way!

56. Why are they coming out now?
Strategically speaking... I'm wondering about the timing. I mean, wouldn't it have made more sense to attempt (not that they'd have a chance) to demoralize us in the run-up to the election?

I guess they are just that stupid.

Unless something else is going on....

Are they afraid we're getting close to something with voting fraud and EXPOSURE perhaps?

Heh, heh.... :)

57. No they're not stupid - the Radical RW are scared.
We're getting close to something. I don't think I've ever seen a freepfest like this.

NGU.

"Are they afraid we're getting close to something with voting fraud and EXPOSURE perhaps?"

There sure are a lot of people saying that this is what is happening.

As I said, I see precisely the opposite happening. But that is just my opinion.

65. oh the irony
I disagree. I don't see very many suspicious "give up" posts, quite to the contrary.

I don't see many "freepers" saying give up, I see a lot of long time respected members saying "careful people where you are being led with this."

I see a lot of new members saying "this it it, now we have got those repukes!!"

Just what I am seeing.

69. Madsen is extremly interesting
I made sure to sign up before Nov 2 because I read the Mods post that it might be tough to get on and I didn't want everyone thinking I was a troll so I registered and got to posting....
may be the same thing with the Wayne Madsen Q&A.You gotta admit its fascinating talking to him.People probably signed up so they could ask questions.

73. I agree
The Madsen Q&A is very intereting

As far as new people, I did not even know DU existed until after the election. I am sure many here stumbled across this site in the same manner. We knew something was wrong, and we had to find answers. We are not all undercover operatives.

:scared:

I did not even know what a Blog was before September??? What I can say is that I have been a lifelong Democrat and I am a John Kerry supporter. I still believe that he is the Real Deal.

I believe that all people have the right to their own point of view, but if they choose to freep, they should do it in freeperland. :freak:

Try not to judge a person solely by the number of posts they have on record, but by their posts and actions. I enjoyed my first troll hunt last night, but I shall try to refrain myself in the future.

78. The stolen election drove a lot of us to reach out to the web and find
others who were similarly disturbed by the "results". We discovered the liberal blogs and found our fellow dems. Don't be suprised that many legit. newbies have flooded onto the site. I've seen a few true freeper style postings that were readily identifiable, but its way to simplistic to think you can figure someone out just because they're new. Profiling and stereotyping is a hazardous occupation.

79. I agree with you, I am a newbie but I was reading for weeks
before I actually got set up to post at DU I don't recall seeing this many negative threads until the last week or so. It's pathetic. They should go back to where they came from they aren't welcome here. Dissent is one thing but they are not dissenters they are disrupters.

83. Even though I have started a few threads as a newbie
I agree with the hundred post idea, or at least 50. Starting a thread should be an earned priviledge, not a right.

To many people are starting posts now and it will just turn into chaos if you alow any freepy-deep with enough free time to make ten posts start a thread.

We should start a mail-in campaign about the freepers and their "enemies list"

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1092851/posts

Now THAT is a violation of security.

I have it saved to my hard drive in case they ever erase it, so they needen't bother. They called the superiors of someone I chat with on GNN. (I am darkly by the way)

:)

88. I haven't started any threads but I have noticed that they
have many threads here now with negative tones. I think you are right that starting a thread should be a privilege and it ought to be based on the substance of your posts not the number of them.

There is little the average American person is more disgusted by then a sore loser. Be careful, no wild claims, push for goals and watch things playout

It can be hard to tell who the trolls are or aren't -- don't buy into "why are they silent messages??" -- write and reply to messages with suggestions for ACTION!

90. Or just don't bite if you don't like what someone's selling
ignore it if the tone feels like pure flamebait. People should still come here with a sense that this is a place to express themselves, even if that self-expression might sometimes be unpopular.

I think there's a danger here, in terms of people feeling like they have to censor themselves to the extreme for fear of someone calling them out as freepers, or even just out of line for being out of step with the majority opinion.

After all, what is a liberal if not open-minded?
