Was central tabulator hacked in Sarpy County Nebraska?
http://www.wowt.com/news/headlines/1161971.html

For some reason, some votes were counted twice.

Deputy Sarpy County Election Commissioner Ed Gilbert says, "It affected 32 of the 80 precincts. And I suppose as many as 10,000 votes."

Sarpy County borrowed the election equipment from Omaha-based Election Systems & Software. Its employees operated the machines that are now double-checking the ballots.

No one is sure exactly what went wrong.

Gilbert says, "The only thing we know is that if you load the disc out there, it reads fine. They didn't read fine on this computer."

If the same disk yields different data on different machines, doesn't that indicate that the software on the central tabulator was flawed? If so, how widespread is this?

1. Is it a bug? Or a feature?
Personally, I wouldn't call it "flawed." ES&S probably thinks it's just fine.

4. Is this the same problem reported before in NB?
Dang! Who can keep up with all the errors.

There were news reports shortly after the election about problems in Nebraska. Either they are following up, or this is something different. I seem to recall the 10,000 number, though.

Let me guess ... it served as an advantage to bush?

9. Yes, one of two
I forget where the other problem was, but this is the same article from right after the election. I don't know if they ever pinpointed the problem. Which is why I get so angry over wild goose chases, there's blatant machine failure right in front of our faces.

7. Perhaps you would care to comment on...
'Ballots cast - grand total'
'Voter turnout - grand total'

They both do appear to be truly GRAND! (and, I checked the link and you most definitely copied what's there for the moment, so I saved the page to file, just to compare to any 'corrections' that might appear later) ;-)

Would seem that "Halt, Audit & Prove My Vote Counts, Now" is a reasonable demand......

16. Ooops, sorry and ...
PRECINCTS COUNTED (OF 80) . . . . . 80
REGISTERED VOTERS - TOTAL . . . . . 82,607
BALLOTS CAST - GRAND TOTAL. . . . . 117,531
BALLOTS CAST - VOTER TOTAL. . . . . 58,785
BALLOTS CAST - TOTAL. . . . . . . 58,746
VOTER TURNOUT - GRAND TOTAL . . . . 142.28
VOTER TURNOUT - VOTER TOTAL . . . . 71.16
VOTER TURNOUT - TOTAL . . . . . . 71.12

Ballots cast 'grand total' should be the number of votes recorded by the county and it should be equal to the total number of actual voters which it obviously is not. It is not unusual to have more registered voters than those who actually vote in an election, but it's rather poor form to record 142 % more votes than voters.

Thank you for finding these 'results'.

17. on a other website i found that.
"absentee ballots" "provisional ballots" are included in that "grand total":. maybe that would explain it?

18. Well, the data from the ...
...sarpy county file that you found says that 100% of the precincts are reported and it says that they've got 82,607 registered voters and 58,785 of those registered voters cast 117,531 ballots.

How that could happen is a mystery. So, either they've got a 'typo' for the grand total of ballots cast (i.e, 58,946 more ballots than those who actually voted; 34,824 more ballots than the total number of registered voters in the county) or a 'miracle' happened.

It doesn't matter how folk cast their ballot or whether they registered before election day or on election day, at the county level they cannot have more ballots than registered voters.

Thank you.

20. Thank you and I agree someone should call both counties...
....but I'd prefer it to be a personal call from someone carrying a subpoena for all telecom and other access logs and an impound on whatever computing systems were used to tabulate the votes.

Peace.

8. How many MORE times do we have to see "more votes than voters"
before this damned Democratic Party wakes up and smells the fraud?

For God's sake, THEY HACKED THE CENTRAL COMPUTERS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.

This machine in Sarpy should be IMPOUNDED and checked.

Have you contacted BBV about this? Or Boykin? Is anyone doing anything except going "duh, I wonder what happened here?"

21. This is weird
BALLOTS CAST - GRAND TOTAL. . . . . 117,531
BALLOTS CAST - VOTER TOTAL. . . . . 58,785
BALLOTS CAST - TOTAL. . . . . . . 58,746
VOTER TURNOUT - GRAND TOTAL . . . . 142.28
VOTER TURNOUT - VOTER TOTAL . . . . 71.16
VOTER TURNOUT - TOTAL . . . . . . 71.12

It looks as if the GRAND TOTAL is the sum of VOTER TOTAL and TOTAL. But why in the world is that even there? And why is VOTER TOTAL different from TOTAL?

http://www.sarpy.com/election/results/2004Primary.htm

23. Douglas County had a 10 min lock down too
Sarpy County is next to Douglas County where I live. Douglas County had a 10 minute lock down for a suspected natural gas leak. So people stood outside and smoked??? While anyone left inside could do what they wanted with the counts. They did not follow the emergency plan to protect the counts. This is posted in 2 other areas. Our US Senator Hagel and the only local (states largest news gathering agency) paper own a good part of ES&S. Sound kosher?

26. Thanks Steve. That is exactly what Bev is looking for.
I'll check to see if it's been reported to BBV. I know she's aware of the Sarpy County anomoly.

28. Here is the Omaha story
I can't post on BBV yet. I haven't joined. But I have donated to her site, her 527 for recounts, and have the book.

The commissioner is a Republican appointed by the Governor. The story was somebody smelled natural gas. They emptied the office except for a few select people that could have done anything. No gas leak was found. I'm quoting the entire story as the link is dead since it is more than 3 weeks old. Remember THIS PAPER owns a good part of ES&S!

WORLD-HERALD STAFF WRITER

Workers at the Douglas County Election Commissioner's Office were struggling to cope with a huge tide of ballots Tuesday night when they were interrupted by the smell of gas. Douglas County sheriff's deputies told everyone to evacuate the building at 115th and Davenport Streets shortly after 10 p.m.

Ballot counters stood in the parking lot, shivering, while maintenance staff checked out the office's gas-powered generator. Some took advantage of the break to grab a smoke. Workers were allowed back inside to resume counting after about 10 minutes because maintenance workers could not find a leak. Said elections manager Mike Scarpello: "When it rains, it pours."
