This Just In... The entire U.S. Government Quits
http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/11/30/ridge/index.html

Tom Ridge has resigned. What the hell is going on in Washington? This makes 7 top cabinet members who have resigned. Is this odd? I can understand why Colin left. I can understand why Tenet left. What's the deal with Ridge? Any thoughts? Does anyone think this is something like the rats leaving a sinking ship? Could the information in Madsen Reports be true?

I find his story to be a bit far-fetched. There are massive holes in the sroty that would need to be filled to close the credibility gap in my mind. But if the story is true, then would the Homeland Security cheif believe his reputation might be in jeopardy? This seems like a very odd and unexpected resignation. I was hoping to get some further thoughts from DUer's on this as it appliws to the Madsen report or the vote in PA.

Sincerely,
Michael Lewis

1. This is a great point to press.
I remember one poster saying that a Freeper friend of hers was freaked out about Fallujah and all the resignations. Let's ride this one to the bank!!

2. At the end of the 4 year term everyone submitts their
resignation. This allows the pisadent to appoint new people. Sort of a clean out the closet kind of thing.
He took out people that he didn't care about and will put in more
s.. t heads of his ilk.

6. Bush told his people not to tender resignation enmasse.

I'll try to find a link. But this time the general house cleaning did not occur.

11. Wow, that's a GREAT link.
"It's not going to be the Nixon model," Bartlett said, "where everybody submits a resignation and then waits to see if they're rehired. There's a presumption that a lot of people did their job well, because we would not be in the position of reelection if they hadn't."

3. Before the election
they said he was resigning because he couldn't afford to send his kids to college on his salary.

Those poor underpaid cabinet members. What is this country coming to?

8. Also maybe they need headline grabbers to keep people
from noticing an antifraud movement going on???

Maybe Ridge got tired of exploiting terrorist levels for the shrub.

10. I call them the Bush Empire Scapegoat All-Stars
Bush HAS to replace his sychopancy team--it's all THEIR fault that he made so many misjudgements and got such bad advice. George. HE was the poor innocent babe in the woods surrounded by vengeful malcontents on the left, and self-serving incompetents on the right!

12. "The president has given me an extraordinary opportunity,"
says Ridge. As much as I'd like to believe this is another rat jumping ship (i.e. afraid to go down with it), we know what these guys are about ... money. Government work is very hard work, and the pay is terrible (for a person whose status in society might allow them to get elected). All these resignations (the CIA excepted) have everything to do with going into the private sector and greasing the skids for more pigs who want to feed at the public trough. Expect to see Ridge, et al., get seven figure consulting jobs real soon.

13. Hummm, could it have anything to do with those fake homeland
security warnings that caused "lockdowns" during the election?
