it is Delaware County that tried to stop the recount in that county, saying it is pointless b/c the outcome won't change for Cobb or Badnarik.

So, Kerry/Edwards have intervened in the lawsuit so that the county has no reason to not allow the recount.

See the threads about Kerry camp. intervening with Glib recount effort threads...etc - this is what it's reference to.

2. I don't know
I haven't seen anything either but its pretty likely since the each precint is going to get only 10 dollars from the money that is being raised that will probably cover one person for one hour of counting. I can see the the counties raising hell over it because I will bet the rst of the money will come out of each counties budget.

7. yes but the rationale was not about the money, it says quite clearly
in law what the provisions and requirements for a recount are. In this case the money was used as a fulcrum but the main thrust of the argument was that the whole recount would be a waste of time money and energy due to the fact that the ones contesting had absolutely no hope of victory, that's changed now and I would be absolutely amazed if an order was granted now, not to say it can't happen of course, after all logic for the right wing seems to come out of a completely different universe.

9. I hope it costs them plenty
Maybe, next time they'll run an honest, above board election the first time around.

10. problem is that logic is only going to work
with people who believe that the election was not above board. We know that on this forum but I think most people don't and unless we can get the message out really effectively, the line, this recount is hurting your pocket because of those interfering disrespectful liberals will probably resonate quite a bit. There is an urgent need to stop that from happening.

11. You are right
and teh cost arguement is going to probably work even better because its not Kerry wanting the recount its the two guys who lost by a couple million votes.

8. From law.com
intervene
v. to obtain the court's permission to enter into a lawsuit which has already started between other parties and to file a complaint stating the basis for a claim in the existing lawsuit. Such intervention will be allowed only if the party wanting to enter into the case has some right or interest in the suit and will not unduly prejudice the ability of the original parties to the lawsuit to conduct their case. Example: Little Buttercup Butter Co. has been sued by Market Bag Grocers for selling below standard butter. Better Buy Market has also been buying Buttercup's butter and wishes to intervene (join in the lawsuit) to avoid either a loss by Market Bag which would affect Better Buy's possible claim, and also to avoid two separate suits. Or another butter company might want to join the suit on Buttercup's side in order to put up a united front with Buttercup against the markets.
