Kerry Team Seeks to Join Fight To Get Ohio County to Recount

Wednesday, December 1, 2004; Page A08

Sen. John F. Kerry's presidential campaign asked an Ohio judge yesterday to allow it to join a legal fight there over whether election officials in one county may sit out the state's impending recount.

~snip~

Lawyers for the Kerry campaign asked to join Green Party presidential candidate David Cobb, Libertarian candidate Michael Badnarik and the National Voting Rights Institute in the fight to force the county to participate in the recount. "If there's going to be a recount in Ohio, we don't want it to exclude Delaware County or any other county that might decide to follow Delaware County's lead," Kerry lawyer Dan Hoffheimer said. "It should be a full, fair and accurate recount."

3. The question begs to be asked....................
what the hell took you so long? November 3 you rolled over and gave up, NOW you want to make sure all the votes are counted?
The aftermath of this debacle is being handled just as their campaign was; with plodding ineptness. We trusted you to have every vote counted, just as you said. Now it takes someone else to spearhead the movement that should have been your main concern all along. :eyes:

Because they had to. The judiciary was poised to stop any recount efforts because the Glibs had "no vested interest". Someone had to enter the fray that has a vested interest. This is being done pretty much under the radar because K/E does want to be percieved the sore losers and absolutely does not want to alienate a large group of the electorate because of a likely 2008 run. On the other hand by covertly aiding in this effort he can molify his base without potentially causing a firestorm of ill will from the general electorate.
