4 Republican State Reps Challange their loss to Democrats?

Conseco accuses the winner by 835 votes, Democrat Yvonne Gonzalez Toureilles, of paying $50,000 to "individuals, many of whom are now under criminal investigation, for illegal assistance of voters in District 35."

He alleges that 148 illegal votes were cast in Jim Wells County alone. Some were by persons who allegedly weren't registered in the county and some didn't sign the check-in sheet.

In one precinct, "election officials made no record on the combination of forms of the names, voter registration numbers, or addresses of 104 voters on Election Day, as required" by law, Conseco wrote.

History buffs will recall the Jim Wells County seat of Alice as the home of the infamous Ballot Box 13.

In 1948, when Lyndon Johnson trailed Gov. Coke Stevenson in the race for the U.S. Senate by a tiny margin, LBJ phoned George Parr, the "Duke of Duval."

Parr saw to it that Ballot Box 13 came in late and that it added 203 votes for Johnson, enough to give him an 87-vote margin of victory and the nickname "Landslide Lyndon."

So while 835 votes may be a lot to make up, loser Opiela at least has a long history of shenanigans to bolster his case.

Stick's strange challenge
