River we hardly knew ye.....
River Phoenix died on October 31st , 1993 at the age of 23. I believe he had a strong acting career ahead of him.

IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT OTHER ACTORS' OR ENTERTAINERS' TALENTS DID WE LOSE, TOO SOON?

These are four other actors or entertainers that passed away around or under the age of 40 whom I , also, believe had the important part of their careers ahead of them.

Michael Dunn 38

Jayne Mansfield 34

Steve Ihnat 39

Nick Adams 36

2. Kevin Gilbert (musician), 29
An incredible singer/songwriter/performer/producer. Wrote most of Sheryl Crow's initial hits (before she dumped him and everybody that helped her achieve fame), and produced Madonna and Michael Jackson, among others. His crowning achievements, though, are his two solo albums, Thud and The Shaming Of The True.

7. As a child...
I never knew who Mama Cass was. I saw her on the Merv Griffin show when I was 7 sometime in the early '70's and I instantly loved her. It was only years and years later when I found out she was in the Mamas & Papas.

Montgomery Clift--one of the most extraordinary screen presences of all time. Jimi Hendrix. His music was from another world. Janis. And yes, River Phoenix.

HE would've won an Oscar had he lived. The kid could just act. What a shame.
