1. I don't care so long as they get it right...
If they properly tell the Phoenix story and Stop having wolverine pull his claws out all the time. I hope they get the Rogue - Ms. Marvel story right.

Oh- And I want to see Longshot.

20. They're never going to have Rogue get powers from Carol Danvers
If she ever get's flight and superstrength/durability it's probably going to involve a side-effect further mutation involving something else than Ms. Marvel, probably Phoenix or Mr. Sinister or something.

There are too many characters that would be introduced before Carol Danvers, primarily an Avengers character, in an X-Men movie.

2. After watching House MD, I'm glad he's not making X3
I was under the impression he was a first rate director until seeing his shit TV show.

6. Singer's movie track record is solid.
Apparently, he's not quite cut out for TV. I saw the pilot for House, M.D, and I was ambivalent.

3. Why did Singer chirp away from X3?
Wanted too much money?

Bored with the franchise?

Got the hots for one of the stars?

Ended up hating one of the stars?

Got one of the stars pregnant?

14. He wouldn't get the stars pregnant.
The gender he would go for don't have uteri.

5. Joss Whedon.
He kicks ass when it comes to writing for ensemble casts.

11. He's going to be too busy with pre-release work for Serenity
Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 07:35 AM by khephra
Additionally, Joss has openly stated that he is not in the running for the job. That's really too bad as he'd be my top choice too.

15. Serenity's done. In the can. Ready to go...
...but Universal pushed back its release date until September 30.

Whedon has time to pursue other projects.

(I want my Serenity!)

10. Smith eventually turned down Green Hornet
because he thought it was too big of a film for him to handle. If he doesn't think he can do two superheroes (counting Kato) in one film I doubt he thinks he could take on a whole team.

21. Kevin isn't even really a big X-Men fan
He's never demonstrated any ability in the skill it would take to make a great X-Men film, or any type of comic-book movie.

12. Raimi
If we can't have Whedon doing it (damn!), then I'd say Raimi. He's a fanboy that cares about getting stuff right.

I almost wish he'd have been on it from the beginning, maybe then we wouldn't have gotten stupid ass decisions like making Rogue 12 and giving her creepy Lolita scenes with Wolverine, or getting Halle Berry (!) to play Storm.

But no, I'm not bitter. :P I actually liked X2, it was way better than the first one. And it kinda turned me into a Storm/Nightcrawler shipper for some reason.

17. Whaaa?
Halle Berry was awesome, except for her terrible wig.

I love Raimi. Spider-man kicks friggin ass.

18. Halle Berry is Not Storm.
She was horribly, profoundly miscast (I think she's a terrible actress in general, but that's neither here nor there). Storm is an African princess, she is tall, strong and regal. She carries herself like a goddess on earth. She's a beautiful, righteous ass-kicker.

Halle Berry Is Not Storm.

In my mind, Angela Bassett is the only woman on earth that could have played that role, but from what I hear TPTB thought she was too old for the part. I call bullshit, but that's Hollywood for you--even 30 is considered over the hill if you're a woman. If they wanted someone younger, Nona Gaye would have been a far better choice than Halle Berry. While Angela Bassett was the ideal pick, Nona Gaye has those qualities and more importantly she has prescence.

Sorry, I've been a HUGE Storm fan since I was a kid (as a black girl there were not many superheroes that looked like me in comics) and I was profoundly disappointed with the casting in the movie. Hell, aside from Sir Ian McKellen, Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman (and Alan Cumming in X-2), the casting just plain sucked. Rebecca Romaine-Lettuce as Mystique? I don't think so, Bryan Singer.

22. They didn't make Rogue 12
There's alot of crap that they shouldn't have done, like having a morocca shaking, tony-award hosting 6'3" guy play Wolverine. But Rogue was actually about the same age as she was in the comic when she was introduced

19. All of those would be bad choices. I'd pick Robert Rodriguez because
Edited on Fri Dec-10-04 09:22 AM by Bombtrack
of his high-def digital filmmaking. He can basically get atleast 3-4 times more movie per dollar and day that others would spend with traditional filmmaking.

So many things haven't been included in previous movies would have been if Singer knew how to squeeze the dollar more, or the studio had ponied up more money.

Beast (in both movies), the Danger Room, Sentinels, Iceman "icing up". Etc.

on edit: Sam Raimi might not be a bad choice, however he could never commit to the movie when he's got Spider-Man 3 to work on.
