Anyone just watch "The Amazing Race"? (spoilers) |
|
That was brutal! They let that poor woman push those hay bales around and dig through them for TWO HOURS after she was already eliminated! She searched for a clue in that field for eight freaking hours!
:wow:

1. I've never seen them go to a couple who were clearly eliminated |
|
and say, "sorry but it's over" - have you?

3. This is the first season I've watched |

but I can certainly see why they went out to her. She wasn't going to give up and it was DARK! She was incredible.

5. They did it last season |
|
with the friends, one of whom had a knee that was acting up. He couldn't even walk any more, so they went up to them--this was in Egypt--and told them to give it up.

6. No - those two quit - that's different and, in fact, Phil got |
|
pissy with them for quitting.

2. Did Anyone Else Think That We Were About to Witness Physical Spousal Abuse |
|
when that fucking asshole Jonathan was screaming at his wife in the cab.
Makes me wonder what the editors left out. The fact that this person got past their screening process, really gives me pause.
I'm not trying to over dramatize the situation. However, I've watched this show since the beginning and while there have been some bad fights between teams, this is beyond anything previous.
I hope CBS and the show take a hard look at this before casting the next race.

I can't wait until he gets eliminated, except that he'll blame it on Victoria. He's clearly an abuser.

9. That guy is so awful that... |
|
...I'm starting to wonder if the producers hire actors and have them play really obnoxious assholes that they know we will root against. I mean that's one of the things that makes a show like this so addicting: picking a team to root for and picking a team--or individual--to root against. Sometimes shows like this become just a little less interesting when the "villains" have been sent home.

8. I felt really awful for her BUT... |
|
...I would have felt even worse if the older couple had been eliminated. It broke my heart when the old guy was pleading with the IKEA lady to cut him some slack because he and his partner were so much older than the other contestants. I was so glad to see them finally catch up. That is one thing that kind of bothers me about "The Amazing Race": they always put in at least one couple that is considerably older than the rest and it is always hard to watch them get eliminated. I missed the first couple seasons of the show. Did any older couples win?

10. An evil older couple went pretty far a few seasons ago |
|
Teri and Ian. They were among the most despicable xenophobes ever to appear on my television screen. But they were so good to hate, you just couldn't wait until Phil said to them "I'm sorry--Oh I'm not, really--but you've just been eliminated"

That was back in the day when I was rolling my eyes and turning up my nose at anything that was being described as a "reality show". I didn't start watch "The Amazing Race" until the year before last when the gay couple, Reichen and Chip, won.

12. oh my, I felt just the opposite! |
|
My husband and I thought the older couple was awful and we really thought they should have gotten the hook instead of those poor girls!
First of all, the old couple complained that none of their skills were being used in this race. Uh, ok.... but clearly they never bothered to prepare for the physical part of it. I'm sorry - I don't care if they were 80 years old - they should have prepared.
But it really annoyed us when grandpa was begging because (1) it was horrid to watch, especially since this was a *game*, ok? Not somebody's life or anything! Although he was breathing so hard at that point, we were concerned he was going to drop (and we really did NOT want to see THAT) and (2) he was using his AGE as an excuse to not be able to count? C'mon!
It bugs me when (older) people complain about what victims helpless they are when much of it is in their power to change.
But next week's scenes show grandpa busting out in tears! Another sappy moment that we'll have to try to avoid.... I hate that sappy, teary, Richard Simmons crap.... grrrr
Where's my coffee?
