I Saw 'There Will Be Blood' Tonight |
|
This is the most ferocious performance I've ever seen from DDL, and that's saying a lot.
Wow.

2. Lewis is such a great actor, I wonder if there is any movie |
|
in which he sucked? Probably there might but I don't think so. I want to see this film.

I don't know that I'd say he sucked outright, but the movie did, IMO. There's off beat, and there's just ... off.

5. Even With All the Foreshadowing |
|
The end surprised me. Not so much the deed itself, but I really expected ol' Eli to get the best of Daniel at some point.

8. His voice reminded me of someone else |
|
I still haven't figured it out yet. I thought maybe Sean Connery without the accent, but I think it's someone else and its driving me crazy.

Compared his vocal stylings to the late John Houston.

I was just telling my wife that there was something strangely familiar to the voice he decided to use but couldn't quite pin it down. John Houston is spot on.

9. So you liked it? I read somewhere that the great unwashed |
|
would not understand it but that it received nominations for various awards because the "artsy/creative/actor" class gets it. I thought at the time, how condescending.

11. I Don't Think (Most of) The Great Unwashed Would Have Much Trouble |
|
Once they get passed Jonny Greenwood's early score. It's not music you'd expect to hear in a Hollywood film (more like Aussie film).
I've got a brother in that Great Unwashed group, he's only 3 steps away from being redneck. I was shocked one Sunday morning to see him so getting into Jean de Florette while I was watching it that he kept leaving his kitchen (breakfast) duties to try to catch what was happening on screen. His totally redneck nephew was completely absorbed. Subtitles and all. Give people an absorbing story, keep the hype machine away, and you'll be surprised what they'll sit through.

12. Just saw it last night. I thought his performance as Bill the Butcher was much better. |
|
Overall I found the movie painfully slow at times with bizarre musical direction.
To be honest I was disappointed.

DDL was good, of course, but what a BORE. I found myself struggling to care about any of them.
