Okay so I just wanted to get some thoughts I was watching America's Next Top Model tonight, and one of the girls on was from Somalia. Apparently, when she was 7, she underwent the somewhat common practice in Africa of female genital cutting, where basically, she was circumcised. What really pissed me off was that they were talking about this issue on national television, and in some way seeming to trivialize and stereotype it. I have learned a lot about this subject in my international development classes at college, and I think ANTM did a horrible job of presenting it to 13-20 year olds. Part of this show is getting the background on these girls, but honestly I don't care about this one particular girls private areas, and presenting it as they did...uhhgg. Sorry for putting this tough subject on the forums, but it helps to vent a bit.

1. Don't watch Top Model, but if they were presenting genital mutilation as anything but a crime |

against humanity, they should be shot.
Don't know what else to say about this one. (And why did they mention it at all??)
