RIP Jezebel James--and thank goodness
Fox drops Posey sitcom "Jezebel James"

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Fox has pulled the low-rated Parkey Posey sitcom "The Return of Jezebel James" from its schedule after just three airings.

The show pulled in just 3.2 million viewers when it debuted March 14 with back-to-back episodes, the network's worst performance in the 8 p.m. hour since fall's "The Next Great American Band." Last Friday's episode, paired with a rerun of "'Til Death," met with similar apathy. "'Til Death" has also been removed from the lineup, with both replaced by repeats of "Bones."

"Jezebel James," from "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino, stars Posey as a frenzied career woman who persuades her younger sister (Lauren Ambrose) to become a surrogate mother for her.

Thank the gods. Don't get me wrong, Amy Sherman-Palladino is my personal lord and savior, but this horrid sitcom made me wonder if aliens took her brain. Lacking any details about why the show sucked so bad, I figure I'll just blame Fox. Seems the right thing to do.

1. ?
I never even heard about it, and I love Parker Posey. Too bad; she could be great in a sitcom.

2. She was reeeeaaalllyyy bad
But--and I hate to admit this--I blame the direction (it was Amy directing) more than PP's acting. She was WAY over the top, like a caricature. I love Parker Posey, but something wasn't gelling with this--either her acting style didn't gel with Amy's directing style, or somebody else was telling them to boost it more than they should have...I don't know. Plus this was set up as a typical old-fashioned, laugh-track sitcom, which I don't think is a good format for Amy's writing and direction nor for PP's acting style.

It was just... :scared:

3. Geez. I didn't even know it'd already aired!
Too bad about the actors in it. I love Lauren Ambrose and Parker's been a favorite of mine for years. They deserve better, and with their talent, they'll get it.

4. I didn't either
Most likely because it had been banished to the basement of Friday night. I tried to watch the three eps that were available on Hulu, but I only made it through the pilot and half the second episode before bailing. I just couldn't take it.

Here's hoping Lauren Ambrose, Parker Posey, and Amy Sherman-Palladino each get mega success with whatever their next projects are. Let's just forget this Jezebel James thing ever happened, for all their sakes...:yoiks:

5. Serves ASP right for the what she did to GG.
End of Season 6 was a disaster, Lorelai sleeping with
Christopher, but then ASP bails on the show completely
and doesn't come back and give us the proper series
ending for Season 7.
