Though it's not surprising. The two leads have been quite absent for a long time.

5. They've both done some interesting things, mostly under the radar.

Duchovny has done some indy movies and voice work, and Anderson has done Bleak House on Masterpiece Theater, and was in The Last King Of Scotland, among others.

Still, these characters will follow them around for the rest of their careers. I'm not really a big fan, though I enjoy the show when I watch it, but for millions these are the roles they were meant to play.
