Age appropriateness of sex vs violence? |
|
It's amazing how much violence they can slip into a PG-13 movie, but how easy that sexual content or 4-letter words can get an R. Seriously, how can you argue that 13-16 year olds can handle the violence but not a couple of naked breasts or a half dozen F words?
Our concepts of what is appropriate for what age/maturity levels needs some rethinking.

2. For one thing 13 is too young for any of that period. |

But then I was a strict parent.

3. I don't think a younger teenager would be mind-warped by breasts |
|
And since most of them have heard the word "fuck" plenty of times many years before turning 17, I see no reason not to allow at least four or five occurrences in a PG-13.
We need to stop pretending that puberty doesn't hit until 17 or 18.

4. I think we're ignoring the bigger problem... |
|
Reports indicate that infants -- infants -- are not only shown breasts but allowed to touch them as well!
The damage to society is incalculable.
