Why no Emmys for THE WIRE?
I just finished watching the fifth and final season of this show, and damned if it wasn't the finest television I have ever seen. The writing, the acting, the comprehensive plots, the somber portrait of Baltimore, everything about this show screams excellence. I sincerely hope that all of the players involved have amazing careers ahead of them.

1. The BEST show
Even Barack says so, when asked about his favorite shows (sorry no link).

Cannot fathom why it is not nominated. Brilliant and topical and engaging. I mourn that it is not on ever again.

2. Besr TV show ever and never got one Emmy nomination over five years.
But no doubt everyone involved will be much the better for being a part of this extraordinary work.

And hats off to HBO for allowing it to run for five years, which was as long as David Simon and Ed Burns felt was necessary to tell their story.

5. Good question.
Maybe because it wasn't what people are used to.
It was realistic.
It was complicated.
It didn't tell you what to think.
Some of the characters were not easily categorized as heroes or villains.
It didn't have a happy ending, at least not for everybody.
