5. Jimmy Carl Black. R.I.P.
Edited on Thu Nov-06-08 01:41 PM by David Zephyr
I am still a big fan of the Mothers of Invention.

My friend, Craig, and I hitched to see them when we were 16 years old.

Arriving early, we went into what we now all call KFC. There at a table sat Frank and some of his gang. And Jimmy Carl Black who teased me because I was so star-struck and so skinny. Craig and I were on a cloud through that small concert.

Peace to you, Jimmy Carl Black and sympathy to your loved ones.

6. I remember when he was working in Austin, Texas,....
at that donut shop on The Drag. Back then, The Drag (now Guadalupe) was closed to traffic and was cooler than the Haight ever was.

Jimmy Carl was quite a character.

One of his lines has always stuck with me. "Take it easy, when you take it, 'cause it's got a long way to slide."
