A filmmakers log.
Edited on Sun Nov-30-08 02:37 AM by Lance31
Well we are taking a leap and have now gone into official preproduction of my second film. This one is going to be a supernatural horror/thriller.

We will be shooting out here near Hobbs, New Mexico.

Well this is my first blog/journal of any type, not overly sure how it works but I thought keeping a diary of our ongoing trials and tribulations of creating a movie would be useful.

We will be shooting with Canon XH A1 cams which are excellent cameras.

Next year we will be switching to Red Digital Cameras

In the meantime, I thought I would start a blog about the progress. We have gotten a great screenwriter who wants to be a team player. That in itself is a rarity, many times I have had writers who literally have told me their script is not up for changes. A pretty funny statement which one can only say to the writer "well I may not be able to change the script so I guess I have to change the writer." Anyway, we should have the script ready by next month (the 1st draft anyway).

Want to start scoping out the site for the haunted house (we are doing a film like sci fi channels "Ghosthunters" except that the investgative team runs into something rather nasty that starts to pick them off one by one....

Pretty low concept, however this is my first effort in 2 years and wanted to start out with something simple and flesh it out with heavy Lovecraftian overtones... I am aiming for a low concept with high execution...

An example of that would be "Die Hard" simple concept, elaborate execution.

Same deal here except instead of big budget we are reying on good execution to make it look high dollar.

2nd thing is to really set the viral buzz for the film, in order to bring up its value. I got lucky with the first film having it purchased in the way it was.

So every week or so I will touch bases here to post the boring details of what is the most patchwork thing one can possible do...make a movie...
