"Let The Right One In": How to do a vampire movie!
Has anyone else seen this? I watched Twilight first and found it painfully slow without much of a payoff. This one is Swedish, beautiful to look at and the plot very well paced. It's haunting and atmospheric and kept me (at least) on the edge of my seat. I'm not much of a horror movie fan, but this is also part thriller and part otherworldly love story. The two children, Kåre Hedebrant and Lena Leandersson, are magnificent. (I see they are going to do an American remake and I doubt it will be anywhere near this good.)

***1/2

1. Id have to watch it again, but I remember I liked it a lot
I was pretty interested the entire movie. I thought the pacing and atmosphere was pretty unique. The kids were great in it

I couldn't stand Twilight. I almost puked. The script was ridiculous. I almost puke when I see people buying merchandise for such a terrible movie. I don't understand how it competed last year

2. I'm three demographics removed from the target audience for "Twilight,"
but I can't see how even 16 y.o. girls who think Robert Pattinson is a hunk could keep their eyes open. There is "Twilight" candy, sticky notes, bracelets, you name it at the drugstore down the street. And a sequel is on the way! Blech.

4. It's a great film
they showed that at Ebertfest this year, and had a panel with the writer and director; my wife went and came back raving about it, so we watched it on DVD last month. Very well done.

5. Here's the vampire movie I'm looking forward to.

Anyone who has seen Oldboy knows this will not be your everyday, run of the mill vampire movie. :)

7. I saw a preview for that when I saw Dead Snow.
Probably playing at the same theater.

10. It's oh so RIGHT!
I saw the one with English subtitles.

First half hour had me thinking I'd made a huge mistake. Boring. But maybe that was the point. Nice, peaceful, boring trip to an out of the way cabin. Also, they were doing a little character building that we Americans just don't need in our zombie flicks anymore.

But it's a GREAT movie and I'll own it as soon as I can buy it.

11. If You Liked That, Keep An Eye Out for "Make-Out With Violence"
http://us.imdb.com/title/tt1284485/

It was much admired on the festival circuit over the past year, but no one's picked it up, so far.

Let the Right One In is going to stay with me for a long, long time. I don't see it as a love story, per se; Eli's a first class manipulator who targeted, set out to court and created his next Renfield.
