except for this one.;) Seriously, though, I love it when we are actually discussing religious issues requiring thought, as opposed to posting about the latest outrage committed by the organized church that turns into a flamewar. Even theists and atheists appear to be getting along better than usual. I do believe the world might come to an end if this keeps up.:D

"And lo cameth upon us....the seventeenth sign of the upcoming apocolypse....yea be to thine hour when the Godly and non-Godly, the believer and unbeliever, the realist and unrealist, the man-of-science and man-of belief ate together at the table of words, and yea, not one scolding upon them came, from neither right nor left, mouth nor tongue, man nor troll".

2. Give it time..eventually someone will get offended and start a |

"we are being persecuted thread". And then another, and then another.
Thats why I like to stay in this forum...every once in awhile, we have periods in which people get over their defensiveness and we talk about some interesting stuff. I also think that lately we've had a good crop of theists and atheists show up, which don't automatically expect deference to their belief. We have some good people on this board...honestly, I don't understand why things have to get so personal.

4. Frankly those sort of arguments are tiresome |
|
We atheists have a regular pool of news stories we can draw from. If this were a different community and not as aware that we believe we are persecuted there may be a purpose in posting some of them from time to time. But I think most of us get that you get it.
Thus from my perspective it is much more interesting to discuss thornier and deeper issues. The whole trying to convert the other team is tiresome as well and much more can be gained on both sides by examining the convoluted folds of each others positions. Convertions and diatribes tend to focus on surface things. The good stuff is much deeper down.

Can you show me specific examples of such threads? I can't believe you folks live in this fantasy world where happy happy threads exist where everyone treats each other with courtesy. Wake Up!!
