A story about being gay and Christian
A friend of mine is a lesbian who is an ordained minister. She was running our Sunday school class today. She described coming to terms with being gay while in Seminary. She said she was angry with God until one night she was flipping through the channels of her TV and fell upon an episode of Touched by an Angel. She didn't normally watch that show but decided to stay with it. It was entitled the Violin lesson. A violin maker is visited by an angel who tells him that his wife is pregnant and gives him a piece of wood to make a violin with and that both are gifts from God. The man starts making the violin but stops when he notices a flaw in the wood. Meanwhile the kid grows up to be handsome, smart, atheletic, and gay. His family only knows the first three. He comes home for Christmas and to die of AIDS. He tells his dad he is gay and his dad rejects him until the angel tells him he has sinned in doing so. After the episode was over she said that Jesus hugged her and told her that he loved her the way she is. What a beautiful story.

3. Too bad it was presented as a FLAW
when it's a normal and harmless variation in human sexuality.

Still, I'm glad you found it comforting.

4. Damn, Warpy you're good!
Beat me to it!

It's a flaw like blue eyes are a flaw.

5. I didn't watch the episode
she did. From her description it was the father who felt it to be a flaw not the angels who are the pov of the series.
