If you were the last person on Earth to hold your particular religious beliefs, what would you do?
You couldn't meet to discuss your beliefs with anyone who shared them, there would be no official worship services (because nobody else would attend them), and no ministers/priests/elders/etc of your faith. Would you try to revive your religion by evangelizing? Would you have children (assuming you didn't already), and attempt to spread your faith that way? Would you even care that nobody else thought that what you believed was true? Maybe you'd be so scared of persecution that you wouldn't breathe a word of your faith to another living soul. Perhaps a different reaction?

What would you do?

2. Be
my particular philosophy is that All is One. To realize this takes meditation and practice which can be done by the individual by themself, if need be. For several years, in fact, this is how I practiced. I found absolutely no one in the area where I lived that felt the way I did--but I eventually did find others to commune with. If something would happen, and they should all disappear, I would go back to my individual practices, which involve being rather than doing.

6. I was
... or so it seemed at the time. But I'd never exchange that for holding a belief just because every sad f*** around me did.

7. Organized (revealed) religion is a load of bunk...
I'm already pretty much alone as it is. There are those who share similar beliefs, but I doubt any of us really give a damn what anyone else believes. That's not our problem.

:)

the same beliefs in anything, let alone religion.

Our beliefs are colored by our unique experiences and our unique reactions to those experiences.

If you have any group of people go through the same experience at the same time or witness any event together, you will have as many different versions of what the experience or event was as there are people in the group.

If we were Borg with a hive mind, then everyone would see everyone's point of view and there would be a consensus and perhaps the same beliefs.

But we are not and do not have the ability to see into each other's thought procress, thus we cannot reach a complete consensus. We all have different beliefs.

I think people do talk and write about their beliefs not only to try to convert others to their beliefs, but also to define (or cement) their own beliefs to themselves.

Would I evangelize? No. I don't do that now. I will ruminate on my beliefs with the caveat that everyone is on their own spiritual journey and everyone must ultimately travel that road alone in their own mind.

As for my son, I have tried to give him the ability and the tools he needs to think and reason out his beliefs on his own.

10. Well, I'm an atheist, but sometimes where I live, it feels like I'm the last one on earth.
Good question, H&E. :)

You have a gift for getting people to put themselves in someone else's place.

11. Probably shut the fuck up.
If I had religious beliefs, I mean ... or, if I were the last atheist.
