Church of Scientology Protest: international day against religion
There have been Church of Scientology protests before but today is something much bigger, today is the international day against the religion. These demonstrations have been sparked by the viral spread of Tom Cruise’s promo video and The Star reports that 14 countries are going to have protests.

The organizers have said around “150 masked protesters will turn up outside the Church of Scientology building on Yonge St., south of Bloor St, U.S.”

The York Press in the UK is reporting on a demonstration that will happen today against the controversial religion in York, UK…they have pledged to “destroy it”.

The Age in Australia, also reports on a group called “Anonymous”, they have skilled computer hackers in their group and have even posted a message on YouTube that declared war on Scientology.

1. Scientology insider turns on church
http://www.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/story/0,22049,23174041-5001021,00.html?from=mostpop

Jenna's parents were also Scientologists but left in 2000. She stayed on as a member until 2005, during which time she says she was kept in a boarding school, only allowed to see her parents once a year and subjected to a bizarre daily regimen.

"If you flunked your uniform inspection, sometimes if you were late . . . you would be dumped with a five-gallon bucket of ice water," she tells Recchia, a former Post reporter.

"We were also required to write down all transgressions . . . similar to a sin in the Catholic religion. After writing them all down, we would receive a meter check on the Electropsychometer to make sure we weren't hiding anything, and you would have to keep writing until you came up clean. This is from the age of 5 until I was 12."

Meanwhile, an anonymous group have launched an online war, threatening to destroy the cult. They have released an eerie video on YouTube with their mission statement.

2. From the article you posted -
A Scientology spokeswoman blasted the 24-year-old.

"I am absolutely shocked at how vehemently you insist upon not only denying the truths that have been stated about the church in that biography, but then take it a step further and tell outright lies," the spokeswoman said.

They seem to have to make this kind of statement a lot. What other church feels the need to? The whole SP thing is creepy.

8. equaly as creepy...
is their use of 'dead agenting'. They will put someone out there with a story that is perhapses partly true but mostly way beyond reason... then blast the straw man they created discrediting anyone who used it as one of their sources even if that person had a thousand other completely legitimate sources.

3. York
I was there at york and there were no reporters at all.
Just some woman doing some drive by picture taking of us.

Also were not against the religion, just the organization built up around it.

4. Scientology is harmless...
But those religious zealots who pledge to "destroy it" are weak in their own religion and as usually, fear what they do not understand.

6. I hope your right.
But when I see videos of members like these, I can not help but to wonder...

http://youtube.com/watch?v=pPol_m8wm8Y

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ocw90W44Boc

The three (outright creepy) men in the first video keep asking the camera man what his crimes are, the woman in the second video does the same.

What is your perspective on these videos?

7. Scientology is harmless?
Someone had better tell that to Lisa McPherson. http://www.lisamcpherson.org/

BTW, I have no religion to be "weak" in.

9. On what planet?
Here on earth Scientology has committed a large number of crimes, ruined peoples lives financially, split families, harasses critics including trying to frame at least one for a crime, seriously neglected/injured people resulting in some cases in death.

Once you look into it a little Scientology is light years (pun intended) from being harmless.

10. I was under the impression
that most people vehemently opposed to Scientology are ex-Scienos (or have had family or loved ones involved and negatively affected by Scienos), but not currently involved in any particular religion.

11. The Church of Scientology is anything but 'harmless'.
Anyone who believes otherwise, doesn't know what he or she is talking about.
