A church sign I saw today that didn't offend me
"God believes in equal opportunity. That's why he died for EVERYONE!"

I thought it was nice. Usually, when I'm driving down sort-of-rural just outside Atlanta areas, I am deeply offended by what church's seem to think God thinks.

1. Yup
God is dead.

Why people still believe God exists is beyond me.

2. Most the ones I see here are just stupid.
The most recent one I saw here was "Will you give god your fish sandwich?"

I still haven't figured that one out.

3. Maybe because the fish is used so much on cars
as a Christian symbol? Maybe the idea that for too many Christianity is merely a symbol to be slapped on the trunk of the car and otherwise ignored?

And then there is this take on fish from the poet Kabir:

The fish laughs when asked if it is thirsty.

5. I guess if I were eating a double Fish Patty Sandwich from McDonalds
He could have one of the patties.

7. The "Feeding of the Five Thousand"
One boy donated his five loaves of bread and two fish, and there was enough to feed five thousand people.

4. A nice sentiment for a church, I think
though my God concept is very different from this. The person who posted the sign was showing that God is all-inclusive.
