Pastor defends right to sex with child wife

By JONATHAN MONTPETIT The Canadian Press
Thu. Apr 24 - 6:27 AM

MONTREAL — The leader of a fringe evangelical movement kept his so-called marriage to a 10-year-old girl hidden from her mother despite using it to lay claim to her body, a Quebec court heard Wednesday.

Daniel Cormier, who headed the now-defunct Church of Downtown Montreal, says the marriage gave him the right to have sexual relations with the girl.

But as Cormier cross-examined the girl’s mother, she denied ever being aware of a marriage.

"My first knowledge of this so-called marriage was when court proceedings started," said the woman. She, like her daughter, cannot be identified.

"I spoke to (my daughter) and (she) doesn’t remember any kind of marriage," she added. "She doesn’t remember marrying you."

1. Canada will jail this bastard and throw away the key
The girl will get therapy to get through this because Canada has national health insurance.

She'd be out of luck in this country and the preacher would get a slap on the wrist and a short jail sentence. Then he'd get out and reclaim his "wife."

3. What a piece of shit....but society needs to be...
...exposed to the delusional rationalizations and complex denial systems of child molesters.

One in four girls and one in seven boys--will be sexually abused before the age of 18.

I don't think society has fully grasped that each day--you pass by dozens of people who
were sexually traumatized as children.

They only way we will combat this epidemic is to realize that these people are insidious--and
do something about it. These predators seriously don't believe that they are harming children.
In many cases they feel that they are doing them a favor, and in most cases they actually believe
that the children want to have sex with middle-aged men.

The reality is that this man---lives down the street from you and works in the cubicle next to you.
This is not the boogey man or the man in the black trench coat in the park. He is the good looking
guy who does your taxes or fixes your car.

When we accept the reality of this horror--then we can begin to protect children and actually
do something about this.
