2. I'm looking forward to Alton Brown's new show, "Feasting on Waves."
I think he's a rare talent with a knack for blending scientific information, culinary education, and straight-up entertainment.

4. Okay, that seems to be a comment rather than a question.
Edited on Mon Jul-28-08 08:28 PM by Boojatta
You don't seem to be requesting any response. However, as you can see, I have been so uppity as to "talk back." I would appreciate it if you would be so kind as to explain what connection you see between Zhul and the Original Post of this thread. Thank you.

5. I doubt that a very large percentage of DU members who read this thread

will put you on Ignore for Replies.

Therefore, I am forced to acknowledge that you have done a skillful job of disrupting this thread. Let nobody claim a right to accuse you of doing poor work.

On the contrary, you deserve at least a small measure of recognition for your crafty contribution.

6. "a skillful job of disrupting this thread"
Edited on Tue Jul-29-08 08:46 AM by cosmik debris
In 24 hours you have gotten 2 votes, both for "none of the above".

In 24 hours you have gotten 3 responses, all of which are facetious.

How is it possible to disrupt a thread with that kind of participation? (rhetorical question)

7. Isn't it possible for public ridicule to deter DU members who
might, in the absence of ridicule, have participated?

If a thread has exactly two participants and one is absolutely forbidden from recommending the thread then the only relevant opinion is the opinion of the participant who has the option of recommending the thread. If, instead of recommending the thread, the other participant ridicules it, then there is a 100% vote in favor of ridicule.

Do you believe that there are simple and perfect explanations for the exact percentage of people eligible to vote in general elections who choose to actually participate?

check for duplicates before posting a new thread. Do you see where I'm going with that?

15. Now look at what we've done
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x3695226

Cowardly or mentally deficient. Pick one. I'll cop to being the other.

Well, as long as I'm here...

I'll take the 12-piece hypotheticals, extra-abstract, with a side of suppositions. Hold the declaratives. Make that to go, please.

16. The threads look different to me.
Admittedly, there's a link in one that points to the other. However, given that there's no link in the other direction, we have already established that they are different.

Anyway, I think that a DU member is advised to check for duplicates posted by someone else. There are occasional imperfections that lead to the posting of two essentially identical threads or replies. However, one checks for that after one posts, not before.

17. For once I think I agree with cosmik debris

The problem, Boojatta, is that almost know one knows what on earth you are asking or writing about. Seriously, and I'm saying this without snark, I have no idea what you are asking, and I think many other DUers don't. That's why we post non-sense responses -- they are non-sense responses to non-sense questions.

I'm completely puzzled by what you are trying to write, and like others I had come to the conclusion, possibly unfair or wrong, that your are spoofing us and you have no intention of making sense. By your indignant tone, I have to assume I was wrong and you are trying to pose serious questions, but not making yourself clear.

So I would agree: it's impossible to "disrupt" a thread that no one understands and that therefore most DUers just use as a joke to post non sequitur, nonsense responses.

For example, in response to your recent poll about "exceptions," you received responses about bacon, pesto, chopped liver and erections. In another forum, someone claimed, in response to one of your polls, that your polls are performance art. In response to your poll on Newton's Principia, 100% of the few responses were that the poll was too confusing and vague to respond to. You have even posted a poll with no discernable subject matter that asks what that very same poll is about -- what I called "meta Boojatta."

Another DUer, Occam Bandage, thinks you post these polls as a carry-on of discussions from other threads. But by not linking to those threads, no one has any clue what you are trying to ask.

I hope that's the excuse because otherwise, I would be concerned about your refusal to make yourself clear. Maybe next time you could explain a little better what it is you are getting at, and as a result, no one will respond with recipes for pesto and chopped liver, references to Zhul, or accusations of your doing performance art.

But please try to absorb this message with the seriousness with which I send it out to you: Many DUers have absolutely no clue what you are trying to say or ask.
