1. Why do socks disappear in the dryer? |
|
And why can't I get anyone else to scoop out the litter box?

2. One sock sponaneously turns to lint when you hit the on button |
|
Of course the sock is neither sock nor lint until you observe the outcome
As for the litter box, all I can say is you looked into the abyss, and it looked right back into you.

13. Actually, this question was solved in the 80's |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-25-08 03:06 PM by wryter2000
There was a magazine called Science 80, Science 81, etc. They observed the disappearance of socks in the dryer and the mysterious appearance of wire coathangers in the closet. They positted that the sock was the larval form of the wire coathanger.

You don't have to reject ethics and humanism
Just intrinsic meanings
After all, we, the world around us and everyone we know are just collections of atoms
And feelings are brain chemicals and electrical pulses
You aren't even one organism, but a collection of millions (mitochondrial DNA anyone?)

4. Interesting stuff! Thanks. |

Reminds me of an old witticism I used to spread around: "I was going to be a nihilist, but I figured 'what's the use'?"

|
And that part between the skin and meat, that gelatiny gooey shit. Right there.

I mean, say what you like about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.
Sorry, this thread was begging for it.

Well, more of an agnostic nihilist. Atheism implies far too much certainty. There's no evidence one way or the other, though the strong probability seems to come down on the "no god" side (at least to me.)

Should you try to describe experience or simply experience it?

24. But there is no essential difference |

between the sides. But then one must make the sacrifice so the great among us will thrive. You know, "better the suffering of a thousand ordinary men that the elite among us may thrive". Nihilism is all so uplifting. Pass the Xanax please.
