Targeting Religious Broadcasters
All I can say is, "GOOD", because when the religious right talks about broadcasting, they are talking about the disemnation of fear and hate.

Targeting Religious Broadcasters
by Rowan Scarborough (Tell me, this just has to be related to Joe, right?)
02/06/2009

Democratic plans to revive government censorship of the radio and TV airways will strike hardest at religious broadcasters who stand in the way of a liberal social revolution.

Christian broadcasters tell HUMAN EVENTS they will be targeted once President Obama's appointees gain control of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) this year.

"The Left Wing, I think, will immediately start filing complaints, and it will in short order shut Christian broadcasting down," says Warren Kelley, president of "Point of View," the first Christian talk show to go on the air via satellite 37 years ago. "I think it will so limit what they say that, in essence, they will cease to be Christian broadcasters."

A number of prominent congressional Democrats, among them House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, want the FCC to bring back the so-called Fairness Doctrine. Until its abolishment by President Ronald Reagan, the doctrine gave the five-member FCC the right to demand that broadcasters present contrasting views or risk losing their broadcast license.

2. Only a conservative shitstain equates "fairness" with "wants to utterly destroy me"
But then, the religious right is "at war" with the "demonic forces of evil", which includes such things as feminism, the ACLU, liberal Christians, activist judges, any retailer that doesn't demand its employees say "Merry Christmas!", Europe, scientists (real ones, not the "creationist" ones), thinkers, academics, the Ivy League, New England, California, city folk, and Planned Parenthood.

4. I think it is very telling that they fear apposing views being broadcast.
They can't stand up to any opposition?

6. Never forget that every b'cast radio & TV channel is a PUBLICLY OWNED channel
that is LEASED to the broadcasting company by the Feds on behalf of the American people.

That is the basis upon which the fairness doctrine is founded: if you are b'casting on the public airways, you must offer balance in your programming.

Removal of the fairness doctrine by the COMPLETE ASSHOLE RONALD REAGAN has led to the RW domination of the airwaves. Without the fairness doctrine, the airwaves are subject to the whims and biases of whatever political party happens to be in power.

Return of the fairness doctrine is long overdue. I hope it returns quickly...and I do hope that the idiocies of the superstition-driven Christian broadcasters are the first to be driven from the PUBLIC airwaves.

7. Why are the RW's 'Dracula stories' being dragged in here?
Who gives a flying fuck about these Christofascists' persecution fantasies anyway? Human Events is on a par with World Nut Daily where RW douchebaggery is concerned.

8. This runs along with an asenine and totally false e-mail making the rounds in Mormonistan (Utah)
A friend of mine got one telling him how they plan to yank "music and the spoken word" (a Sunday Morning Program off the air) My friend, being of the liberal persuasion, pointed out to his friend that the e-mail was a load of bull, much like Mr. Scarborough seems to be.
