Hijacking Science For God
A Jesuit priest is hijacking astrophysics to prove the existence of a God who, despite being omnipotent and the master of world without end, amen, apparently needs people to poke their noses into wildly unsuitable fields and act as His PR. Never mind how using the Big Bang to prove Catholicism is like using triple-chocolate-shakes as a diet.

Father Robert J. Spitzer, PhD, outlines a case which is very hard to argue with, but not for the reasons you'd like. He describes modern big bang theories, shows that they all demand a singularity point, and obviously such singularity points require the existence of a Creator. Well done if you spotted the break in the chain of reasoning there - it's on par with saying "two plus two is four, four plus four is eight, so therefore eight is a magical number of mystical power." It's difficult to argue with the logic because the (extremely) arguable step has no logic at all.

1. Another question you might have
If the Big Bang happened because God said "pull my finger", wouldn't the one who pulled his finger be the Creator?

7. I suppose it depends....

2. Science does not require the existence of the Creator to explain observed phenomena...

3. Imaginary sky people do not belong in the same discussion
as scientific findings. Spitzer needs to go back to his rectory and STFU. Discussing the make believe against science is a waste of oxygen.

4. In order to hijack science, it has to belong to someone in the first place.
Who has Father Spitzer stolen it from?

5. the Almighty Willie?
Edited on Tue Oct-06-09 10:55 AM by Holy Moly
It is said in no uncertain terms by them who know intimately best that God(JudeoChristian version) created man in His own image because God is indeed a man (not some sexless neuter who don't need no sex). I've always wondered ever since early childhood, if God be a man, how big be His Willie? Teeny as a virus when at peace, Big as an exploding galaxy when 72 virgin angels fly by. And what in Heaven does He need His almighty Willie for? Anybody knows the Heavenly biblical geographical facts? Might the good preeminent Father Robert J. Spitzer, PhD, be able to bless us with the gory facts?

8. Ironically.....
...if his bosses way back when had had their way bullying science around, he would never have trained in the field of astrophysics because the discipline would never have existed.

9. Good, let him "prove" the existence of god.
It's not gonna happen, though, so I am not worried that anything other thanthis guy making an ass of himself will come of it.
