An interesting interfaith conference this week

I got this in an email and wanted to share.

This is taking place at the Dallas TX Arboritum, btw.

Sanctuary For Life's Memnosyne Speaker Series will feature a diverse group of spiritual leaders participating in round-table discussions to exchange spiritual, philosophical, scientific and cultural knowledge in an unbiased, supportive setting. The focus of the conference is Religious Tolerance in a World of Spiritual Diversity. This has been done previously with the world’s major religions and it has been done with the world's shamanic religions; but this may be the first time both groups as well as representatives from the New Age movements have been brought together to explore our common humanity sans political agendas. A documentary will be filmed during the event for distribution world wide showing that people of different cultures can break bread together, embrace each other, and respect each other's different spiritual paths. www.MemnosyneOfSFL.org

The Format:

Before arriving in Dallas, each speaker will submit questions or topics that will go into a "pot." Each day will begin with a participant drawing blindly from the pot. The question will then be read out loud and each participant will have the opportunity to make his or her comments on the subject

Daily Schedule

9:00 a.m. - 12 noon and 2:00 p.m.-4 p.m.: The speakers will sit at a round table with the audience surrounding them. Four screens will be strategically placed for unobstructed viewing with signing for the hearing impaired.

12:00 noon - The speakers will retire to The Camp House, the Camp family’s original estate on the Arboretum grounds. Here they will have two hours to visit among themselves over lunch or seek out a room for private contemplation or meditation. If willing, they will have announced to the public where they can be found in the gardens and make themselves available for questions. (See below for just a few places they might choose to meet with people) Lay Ornamental Garden; Pergola; Gazebo; Sunken Garden; Indian Courtyard; A Woman’s Garden; Jonsson Color Garden.

Final Day, July 1, 2005 Sessions:

9:00 a.m. - 12 noon – Speakers will continue discussions at the round table.

1:00 p.m. – 3 p.m. Round table discussions continue.

4:00 p.m. - A reception at The Camp house.

6:00 p.m. - Each representative will be invited to perform his or her own song, dance, prayer, ritual, etc. At dusk, each leader will participate along the meditation pathway to the Closing Candlelight Ceremony in the Arboretum’s Amphitheatre.

Mary Ann Thompson-Frenk is a Founding Board Member and Vice-President of Sanctuary For Life founded by Sherri Reed. Sanctuary For Life offers programs for wellness, health-oriented technologies, personal transformation and spiritual growth. The Memnosyne Speakers Series is the realization of a dream-vision that Mary Ann has nurtured since childhood and which proved compatible with the focus of the organization. The program was named for Memnosyne the Greek goddess of knowledge and the mother of the nine muses. This conference is not a fund raiser; Mary Ann is underwriting sponsor of the project. 2. I will find out next weekend

I don't have vacation time to take off and attend the conference, but I will be there when Rev. Tasnim Hermila Fernandez has a Dances of Universal Peace workshop July 2, the day after the conference ends. I'm sure there will be talk of the conference then, and, God willing, some of the other participants will join the Dance circle as well.
